im in my 3rd year doing a joint program microbiology at uoft with a diploma from centennial all in four years...two years left and I'm glad im in this program - seen too many university life sci grads come back to college and waste an extra two years studying...now i'm wondering what kind of jobs I can get in the field...microbiology is really quite precise and there seem to be not that many jobs available...grad school is a possibility but not too sure what I want to specialize in...i'd rather get a job now...any suggestions from microbiologists on RFD or college grads from centennial? or else i might just go to saskatoon and get the 20K....

Um ive heard theres a lot of research going on, on archaea. Also try hospitals, or see if you can do a coop/internship with the ontario government. If not try med school, dentistry school or law school. Even veterinary school.

Work for BD, BM, Siemens, Somagen or any other company that works in Microbiology....or work for start ups: Sales, Marketing, Applications Specialist, R&D.
Train as a Lab Tech. Strong demand...especially in Micro. Average tech is in their 50's.
There are other opportunities: Food, environmental.
You have one part of the question answered: Microbiology. Now answer the second part, how would you like to apply it? Do you want micro to be a tool or the end?
