Here's some advice (from a guy who's been dating his Korean girlfriend for 5 years, and I went out with a different Korean girl before):
1. If you have to post that kind of question here, well, you have much to learn grasshopper
2. Hang out around Yonge between Steeles and Shepperd (especially Finch), there are a lot of karaoke bars to meet with some females
3. Most Koreans only go out with other Koreans, so start looking/dressing like one, dressing like one, and eating like one, and ESPECIALLY watch a lot of Korean movies/dramas
4. Get ready to spend a lot of $$ (thus, you have to at least be able to drive / practically unlimited access to a car, a good CC so that you can at least get some cashback when you spend on her, etc...)
5. I hope you realize that # 1 - 4 was all just a joke.
Moral of the story: Just be who you are, if she doesn't like you, then she won't. Eventually you'll (hopefully) find a compatable girl, but does it really matter that she is Korean or not?

So I'm guessing the OP is not Korean himself. Great question OP! lol.
Anyway, I do know 3 Korean girls dating non-koreans, but this is a very RARE case. I'm curious how you can be generally attracted to such a big group, rather than an individual. I'm guessing you don't get out much.
Anyhow, my word of advice would be not to hang out at Yonge&Seppard because the girls that hang out there will be the least receptive to non-Koreans. As a non Korean you'll have a very difficult time fitting in an all-Korean clique. My suggestion is, find that one Korean girl at work/school/whatever that is pretty westernized and social. With her you MIGHT actually stand a chance.
good luck

Just go to Seoul - I was there for a weekend, and was accosted at a bar by a few Korean girls who specifically wanted a Canadian boyfriend. I even had to pull my passport, as they wanted to be certain I wasn't American.
They were perfectly willing to compete with their friends to "win" the Canuck.

There are plenty of korean girlfriends to be had in Toronto for the price of $120-150 per half hour.
I wouldn't mind test driving one. I go out to eat Korean quite often with my girlfriend and always notice a few cuties.

Depends... If you look at 2 generation Koreans (or CBK) who have pretty much a Canadian upbringing, then you will see a lot of Korean girls dating Non-Koreans. But this becomes much rarer with Korean FOBs.

Jun 25th, 2009, 09:19 AM
This really depends on if the girl is a first-generation or second-generation Korean. There is a BIG difference on how they behave and who they hang out and go out with. As with most other ethnicities (I'm assuming here based on my own experience), first and second generation Koreans generally do not get along well with each other because of language/personality/cultural barriers.
So basically, if you want to date a first-generation Korean immigrant girl and you're not Korean, you're in most likelihood out of luck. They typically hang out with other first-gen Koreans, don't really speak too much English, and are generally afraid to interact with anyone that is non-Korean. But if you are going after a second-gen (and possibly 1.5) Koreans, then your chances are good; they, especially at young age, are confused about their own cultural identity and try to blend into the general Canadian culture as much as they can. This means that they're much more open to means of interracial relationships (as a matter of fact, there might be a preference to it)... and you'd treat them as if you would anyone else and you'll be good.
This is my experience being a 1.5 gen Korean (well, technically. I'm more or less born here since I came here at VERY young age, so I behave more like 2nd gen).

The true cyworld doesn't allow non-korean citizens to sign up, which is probably a smart thing to do, otherwise you'd have people like the OP blowing a load every day on it.

fixed
korean girls will date a "foreigner", but marrying one is a different story. It's not necessarily a Korean girl's preference to only date Koreans. Alot has to do with their parents, whom they're very loyal to.

True (it is runs from Bathurst to Christie), but I find that is where most of the fobby Koreans hang out.
The KBC's are more along Yonge Street.
Apparantly somehwere on stats canada, they show interracial marriage statistics and (from what a pastor told me), Japanese Canadians are most likely to marry outside their race, and Chinese Canadians are least likely (of course based on %age, not on total #'s), but Koreans were second least likely.
I was surprised about the Chinese statistic though.

that chinese statistic surprises me too. Out of all the chinese people I know (that are dating), only one of them is a chinese couple. Everyone else ( is dating non-chinese, myself included. I'm definitely not likely to marry a chinese girl.

I just spent a month in Korea. Like everywhere, there are attractive women there but they're definitely not a society where free-mingling style socialization is the norm, so it seems like it's difficult to approach women in general, aside from the fact that you're a foreigner.
There was a Korean Canadian over there with me, and he basically said it was his goal to find a wife here. But he told me it can be difficult, that you can't just approach in public places, you need an intermediary, even at clubs....they tend to be "booking" style, where you get the waiter to bring a girl to your table to talk, rather than approaching her yourself as we do in western society?
It sounds strange. Anyways, just my experience as an outsider in Korea but I wasn't look to date any. So good luck with that I guess...

+1, you'd be surprised how true these two are. I've never seen a Korean girl dating a non-Korean guy, but I have seen Korean guys dating non-Korean girls. Koreans are very conservative in their culture, even more so than Chinese and Japanese, so the road is only longer, not shorter.
Anyways OP's probably just trolling anyways.
I've been dating a Korean girl for the last 3 years, and I'm Guyanese. Her sister's also dating a guy from El Salvador.

TBH, I don't quite remember
I think she approached me actually.
Got her #, gave her a call, started hanging out one on one, then after a month or two, we were dating.
IIRC, we met at a park. I was with some friends, and one of them knew her. She asked that friend to intro us, then things went from there.
And I have Korean friends who are females, but sorry bro, I'm not hooking them up with some random guy on the internet

You met at a park? Then after a few months of dating, you went on a business trip?
(example)
--Your girlfriend has been eagerly awaiting your return. Your plane is about to land at Pearson. The plane lands. You walk to the arrival hall, where your girl is waiting. You enter the arrival hall. She sees you. She runs towards you. You put your arms around her. You two hug and embrace, then turn around and around, meanwhile the passerby are clapping and cheering, and the music is playing. Next, you two walk to a limo and ride off into the sunset.

I dunno, she beat quite a few famous players, including Yellow (although that was way back in 03)
* Seo Ji-Soo (ToSsGirL) (Terran)
ToSsGirL is the best female starcraft player, winning every female starleague she entered. Her name suggests she plays the Protoss race, but she switched to the Terran race because she finds it fits more to her playing style. ToSsgirl has had some prominent victories in regular starleagues including beating YellOw 2-0 in 2003, beating Freemura 2-0 and in 2009 beating Max 2-1 in the MSL Preliminaries. Besides these, ToSsGirl has had limited success in the main starleagues. She saw limited play time in 2006 and 2007 after a series of losses by her and her team. In 2008, ToSsGirL was able to defeat Modern 2-0 in the round of 164 in the Gom Averatec-Intel Classic Season 2. This was the first time a female has won a match in a KESPA recognized tournament. In turn with the newyear, ToSsGirL has been placed on the STX Proleague roster.

Off topic, I've always wondered this:
When you are in your mid twenties and older, a female significant other is referred to as a girlfriend and a male significant other is considered a boyfriend...yet, they are not a girl or a boy, they are women/ladies and gentlemen/men
Yet, if you say you have a ladyfriend/womanfriend, there is no significant other connotation attached. Strange.
----
Anyway, back on topic, OP, there are more things to life than getting a Korean girlfriend. Just be yourself and go to more social outtings, you are bound to meet someone (regardless of what ethnicity they are)

1) Have good looks - Be white with good "English" social skills
2) Be self-confident, or at least know how to act it, especially around her friends and strangers on the street. Make sure she doesn't see that you feel at all intimidated or excited because you are the "cool"
3) Watch Korean drama (and learn from the pros)
4) Wear preppy/fashionable clothing
5) Get a good job, spend your money like there's no tomorrow (this is how she will start to imagine having a 'real' future with you)
6) Be selective about the type of friends that you hang around with.
http://www.vocis.com/frank/archives/jeffries-abercrombie.jpg
Always remember to invite her over to your house on your 2nd date. She expects you to lay her down and teach her proper.
Wake up really early next morning, wear suit and ties, and visit her parents to get their permission to marry the girl (good luck).
If they say no, tell them that she is pregnant with your baby, and that you will tell everyone at the church if you don't allow them to get married.
Just follow these guidelines and you will have the Korean wife of your dreams in no time.

"Hi, my name is ByunTae from South Korea. I have been playing Starcraft since 1998 and I was born and raised in Korea. I'm 100% full blooded Korean, meaning I have been gifted with unparallel talent to master any video game, particularly, Starcraft: Brood War. I'm also experienced in Counter-Strike, I am able to perform bunny hops, my best score on a public 32 player game was 171-2 with 170 kill streak. I'm offering my expertise in Starcraft to be taught to non-Koreans that wishes to have the skill of a Korean player. I have advised and coached many professional gamers such as Im Jae Dong, Park Myung Soo, Ma Jae Yoon, and more. Boxer and I were great friends until he started using my dropships to gain his fame. I started training other players to be on par with Boxer and eventually surpassing Boxer. He is no longer the best player thanks to my contribution to rest of the players. I did not compete in pro gaming because they KTF did not agree with my seven figure contract demand.
Things I will be teaching in Starcraft:
1a2a3a4a5a6a7a8a9a0a
Micro management (unit management)
Macro management (unit production and economy)
Map specific strategies
Basic and Advanced strategies and build orders for all three races.
In-game bugs to be used to your advantage such as unit stack, stop lurkers, etc.
Counter strategies and perfect attack timings.
Learn Korean lango, like "chobo" "gosu" "ww" etc
Basic Korean to communicate with Koreans on battle.net
Unit details, their size and their pros/cons against other units
My signature cannon rush along with my signature cheese rush (boxer learned it from me)
My lessons will result in:
Faster APM (actions per minute) - average professional gamers range from 250-550. Average player is about 100.
Better Win/Loss Ratio
Chance to become a professional gamer in Korea - Celebrity status, especially for foreigners, like Guillaume Patry (Grrr...) and Bertrand Grospellier (Elky)
Bragging rights, that you're as good as a Korean in Starcraft
You will be called a hacker because you're so good.
Korean girls will be intrigued that you're such a good Starcraft player.
My lessons are offered to only non-Koreans or American born Koreans because they lack the blessing from the Gaming God, Norazi. Sun Tzu once said, "Defiler becomes useless at the presences of a vessel." You will be come the vessel against the defilers that treats you like a non-korean, laughing at your pitiful Starcraft skills...however, you will demolish them with the new profound skills.

OP, if you are not Asian, getting Korean girls is the easiest thing in the world, especially if you are white. All you gotta do is not sound nervous when you talk to them and they are all yours. Reason being is they get that whole "me big strong American" impression from you and they love it so you could get away with saying the crappiest jokes and find that they laugh at all of them. If you are Asian...I don't know

Pricing:
Basic training: $25/hr
Estimated course length: 6-8 hours
Basics of micro/macro management.
Learning the units and buildings
Basic strategies and build orders
Learn attack/production timing
Hotkeys
Worker stacking
Learn Korean words to understand Koreans talk in game

Various secret tricks and tips
Bootleg copy of Boxer's DVD imported from Korea
Learning basic Korean to communicate with Korean on battle.net
Advanced micro/macro management (able to stand off 12 zerglings with just 3 zealots or fend off 18 zealots with just 4 cannons) <- EXTREME SKILL
Race Specific Training:
I will teach you EVERYTHING i know about those races, making you an unstoppable force within the World of Starcraft.
Estimated course length: 4-6 hours
Protoss: $20/hr
Zerg: $25/hr

Having just returned from Korea, I will give you some advice.
- Korean bars such as Kokoryu, Turbo, Campto are not condusive to meeting people. Koreans will not be fond to you walking up to their table to chat, so that one is out, unless you want to hit on the waitresses
- Noreabang (Kareoke) is also not condusive to meeting new people. Everyone has their own room.
- Korean fob girls in Toronto are ALWAYS hooked up. The only way to get a good one is to steal her from another guy. Side Note: Koreans do this to each other all the time. There is a saying in Korea that says "If shes dating someone and you want her, steal her"
- Koreans are really proud of themselves (for that i dont know why), they rejoice in the fact that they are Korean and many of them truly believe they are superior to the other asian races. Of course this is not true. Therefore, if you are asian, you must blend in to look like them.
- Grow a shaggy wolf hair cut, wear Joe 90's black rim glasses, talk while you chew, wear designer everything, get decked out in holister and AF.
- Learn some Korean words. "Kamsamida" = Thank you. An Young Kay Sayo = Hello \ Good bye. etc..
- Look at the posters in Soju bar washrooms. They will usually advertise some sort of Korean event.
Better yet, just move to Korea. All the hot ones are in Seoul anyway, so why try to pick from the limited selection here. You will have an easy time in Korea.
- I guess what we all want to know is why do you prefer Korean over Europeans, or Chinese. Are you judging based on just physical preference? Or their cultural habits?
I know if you are Korean and you are reading this, you are probably looking to flame me for a sweeping generalization. For that i say, go ahead, i dont care .. LOL

I actually find what you said more or less accurate, sadly. Then again, I'm more or less CBK so can't really speak from the fobby side of the view. :D
As for why Koreans tend to be very isolative and at times overly proud, it's because of the cultural/historical background. Once the final royal dynasty period started (this was around 1500's IIRC) Korea became more or less of a hermit country with very little interaction with outside world besides China and Japan. And countless number of invasion over the years have made them very wary of foreigners and instilled the need to protect/be proud of their own cultural identity (think Serbians, Greeks, Polish, etc, who tend to be similarly proud and have similar history). It's slowly getting better there (I remember even 15 years ago people in Korea would be like OMGFOREIGNERS!! when they see a white/black person... no longer the case), but it's obviously not going to change overnight and for most part it still persists.

The history that explains their behaviour is accurate. Also, I don't blame them for having negative feelings towards the Japanese.
Most people don't know the history in Korea during pre\post WW2, or pre\post Korean War.

Go to a Korean church or Korean class- no problem
I'll add some more sweeping generalizations (coming from a true CBK).
- learn to play the electric bass guitar, Korean girls dig that for some weird reason
- join the church band, better yet, become a pastor!
- drive a BMW
- flirt a lot and act very feminine, Korean girls (mostly the fobs) love girly boys

I'm chinese and dating a korean girl and they do tend to stick together. In high school and university I've noticed most of the koreans tend to know each other regardless of their age. My gf has a pretty hot friend and the last time I saw her she was single, I have no idea why as she is pretty and has a great personality. Maybe when she dates guys she has high standards or something.
First off, how old is that hot friend and if she's 18+, can you hook it up? lol

Easiest way to get a Korean chick is to get a wicked cell phone and hang out at Pac Mall near the food court. Make sure you have facial hair and have above average height.
Tell her you're an epic Starcraft player and enjoy pickled cabbage. You think Kim Jong Il is a dick. You're headed to Tae Kwon Do practice, but maybe you can take her to her favourite AYCE place at Yonge/Finch.
That should have her suitably ready. Bring her home and make sweet love under your Rain poster.

The 2010 World Cup is next year, and both North Korea and South Korea have qualified (w00t).
Although most Koreans aern't hardcore Football (Sawker) fans, they come out in droves when the KNT (Korean National Team) plays. For some reason that pisses me off as they don't support the team in the "in-between" years.
So anyways, next year it would be a good idea to go to Galleria with a red shirt, red shorts, your Taeguki and a Drum, and try to pick up some screaming hot chick who has no clue what's going on in the game. :D

I was surprised about the Chinese statistic though.this is surprising because in the korean town on bloor I see plenty of korean girls with non korean / asian guys

well we did talk throughout the night when we went dinner, karaoke and beach. it's just that the communication is harder than normal as she is not fluent in english and still learning it.

I'm surprised nobody had brought up one of the worst traits of Korean girls (I guess Koreans in general)... kim-chi breath!
If you ever dated a Korean, then you know what I'm talking about... Seriously, most Koreans have a separate fridge... not a section of the fridge... a separate fridge devoted to just kim-chi. They can chew all the gum they want, but there will be times when you get a whiff of that kim-chi breath and it's game over.

Well, at least their armpits don't smell as bad as ours. Plus, our hygienic practices are way below par compared to Koreans. We think we're clean by doing this and that, but Koreans can see that we're only fooling ourselves at a glance and that what we do to keep clean is actually just to "look" clean but not actually "be" clean.

Well I'm a Korean myself, I don't find many posts that I find too true.
First of all, in Korea custom, the guy have to pay for the girl's meal and dating stuff most of the time(I know, it sucks).
However, not all girls are like this but because of the "soap drama" they watch the most girls have these ideas.
Luckly, if you are non-Korean, the girls find it understanding to pay equally for the bills.
Second, handful of girls find western guys attractive and dating them is cool. I think sometime they have more chance than those who are Asian(even Korean).
So I wouldn't really worry about Korean girls caring about you non-asian look.
One person mention something about the marriage, I do agree that marriage is whole different story and not many marry non-asian.
Third, if you have a car and asking a girl out who just came to Canada(in the range of 0~2 years), let the dating being..!!
About the Kimchi, not everyone has a separate kimchi refrigerator and smell like kimchi all the time..-_-

There is a huge difference between KBC girls and Korean fobby girls.
Many KBC girls HATE traditional guys because they are so passive and meek, that is why they are interested in more assertive (and often white) guys.
Whereas other more fobby Koreans are fine with a passive guy.
And I'm pretty sure it is custom in every culture for the male to pay for a female's date, not just Korean.

Well I guess that makes me a racist to my own people.
Kim-chi breath is very real. Have you ever opened a jar of kim-chi? You're telling me that smell magically goes away once you eat it? You could chew gum, suck on a mint... maybe even brush your teeth... but burp and the smell comes right back. Burp during a make out session and believe me, session's over.
I will admit when I am wrong... Most Koreans don't own a kimchi fridge. HOWEVER, they want to. The kim-chi fridge is the 'must have' appliance for Koreans.

Wow this thread contains so much fail and wrong ideas.....jesus....
There is NO such thing as kimchi-breath i have dated 3 korean girls in my life and none of them had any problems with hygiene, actually i have never met a Korean person with those problems and I consider Koreans to be one of the cleanest people out there, it just like saying all Chinese have awful breath, yes the morning one,the one that smells like crap and almost knocks you off your feet (and i have encountered dozens of chinese guys with it), when it is in fact just ones who dont practice washing their teeth + eating god knows what or whatever. Dont wash your teeth for several days and you will have god-awful breath.
Not every Korean girl expects the man to pay for everything, only one of my ex-girlfriends was like that, others insisted to pay because they thought I payed too much....
Dating a Korean girl is not hard, but marriage would be different and they respect their parents decision, last girl I dated broke up with me after I went to Korea, met her parents (at their request and broke my back to try and be nice to them) they didnt like me and that was it. Though luck. However, I think it is far from impossible and i know some white guys that married Korean women.
A lot of things are subjective, starting the whole thing just because you want to date a Korean woman is wrong and you will fail. Don't be a dumbass and ask these kind of questions on the internet. Some things in life you have to learn how to do for yourself, and less people will think you are a dumbass.
Once again, kimchi breath is bs.I have tons of Korean friends, went to Korea, lived with Koreans there is no such thing... the only thing you can get from kimchi are serious gasses.

I guess going dutch can be common in Canada, but the majority of women expect to have their dates paid for (or at least the first couple/few), and the majority of men expect to pay for their dates. (I know they have also done studies on this based on North Americans)

i think it's because korea is a very fast and constantly changing society. they know looks make a huge difference when seeking attention, when it's needed or desired. the marketers are making a huge impact in how the society views plastic surgery, therefore promoting its immense growth. quite obviously, plastic surgery is more common than here, and therefore is less criticized.
at the same time i think there are many of those who are observing these people from inside and out, learning to identify, criticize the ugly, and working to bring out the real goodies of human life
