1) Why is it when we get ripped off by Rogers, Bell, and Telus we just let go and ignore the over charging, or accept CS dropping line on us all time when we complain?
2) Why is it when those union workers go on strike and you guys have your garbage all over your city (Toronto) and just let go with it and think you can just go dump it somewhere else or pay someone $3 to pick up your garbage.
3) Why is it that gas costs 11 cents more than what it is suppose to be compared to US, and everyone just does this bad canadian habit and let go with it.
Please stop it, the country is going down a deep hole because of this bad habit, stand up for your rights for god sakes, I'm seriously sick and tired of this.

Its simple. It takes A LOT of work and attention and chasing to get people to actually care.
We all know that whatever we do doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.
It takes more competition to bring down prices but if the government doesn't allow it, it won't happen. We can write letters, protest etc until we are blue in the face but if the government doesn't care, nothing happens. People start loosing hope.
If you are sicked and tired, start a group and see how many people show up. There are a lot of groups out there actually that have address these issues but what has been done? Nothing.
As long as the government is getting fat, they don't care about the common folks. What can be done? Vote in a new government.
The issue there is that there aren't enough educated people and having too many immigrants in here not understanding the issue, it makes it even harder. That is why OUR generation might be more adapt at fixing issues but by then, it might be too late.

There is no perfect place.
If you know of one, I want in. Some place with less taxes, more wages.

1) Why is it when we get ripped off by Rogers, Bell, and Telus we just let go and ignore the over charging, or accept CS dropping line on us all time when we complain?
What are you going to do about it?
2) Why is it when those union workers go on strike and you guys have your garbage all over your city (Toronto) and just let go with it and think you can just go dump it somewhere else or pay someone $3 to pick up your garbage.
How are you going to stand up for your right on this? Union workers stand up for their right.
3) Why is it that gas costs 11 cents more than what it is suppose to be compared to US, and everyone just does this bad canadian habit and let go with it.
Again, what is your proposal? Don't drive?
Please stop it, the country is going down a deep hole because of this bad habit, stand up for your rights for god sakes, I'm seriously sick and tired of this.
If you can figure out how, you can be the PM of this country.
We hear people complaint all the time. What is the solution? That is the most important part.
One of the disadvantage of this country is everyone stand up for their own right and don't think about others' right. Business stand up for their own right of earning as much money as possible. Union workers stand up for their own right to earn more money. We stand up our own right to drive. We stand up our own right complaining and not solving.

What are you going to do about it?
I have had a huge problem with rogers before, I was deceived badly, and overcharged with huge amounts, I kept on calling them and line always drops...I tried my best to get head office phone number, and I did...I called, and mention every employee that deceived me, and got them fired (2 employees) I did not let go, I wasted 2 weeks of my life time, and got what I wanted....
As for the rest, its something I cannot solve on my own, but people should really consider doing demonstrations.
I would definately consider dumping the garbage in those union workers houses so they can understand how they ruined the image of Toronto, and made it look like a **** hole.

You're right. There is no perfect place.
But Canada is far from perfect.
I have been searching most of my life for a better place than Canada. Yes, there are many. To me, these places are way better than Canada. But to some people, they're not. So it's very subjective.
Having said that, my definition of a better place than Canada should be:
1. The citizens should not be losers who vote for stupid governments like what we have here.
2. There should be low tax. (high wage is not necessary)
3. The governments should respect their people. Not like the CBSA in Canada who treats everyone like criminals.
4. There should be private healthcare. I don't care if they have free healthcare or not but there should be a way to get better healthcare by paying.
5. Not racist. Our country is a very racist country. The natives have extra rights based on the fact that they belong to certain races.
6. Good climate. Canada is mostly inhabitable because of its coldness.

If you allow them to rip you off. People got along without cell phones and wireless texting for well over a hundred years, before the technology developed.
2) Why is it when those union workers go on strike
And they are not entitled to stand up for their rights?
and you guys have your garbage all over your city (Toronto) and just let go with it and think you can just go dump it somewhere else or pay someone $3 to pick up your garbage.
Considering that all of Toronto received waste collection up to last Friday, there is an awful lot of garbage appearing that no one seems to have room to store for a couple of days. How did they ever manage before the strike started to keep their garbage stored for a week between collection days?
3) Why is it that gas costs 11 cents more than what it is suppose to be compared to US, and everyone just does this bad canadian habit and let go with it.
Someone has to pay for "free" health care, in one form of tax or another.

3) Why is it that gas costs 11 cents more than what it is suppose to be compared to US, and everyone just does this bad canadian habit and let go with it.

Canadian Population 33,212,696

Thats a difference of 270847028. Great eh? So do you think our smaller population and greater area could possibly be a factor in why things are more expensive here? Everybody in canada would need to have 5 cell phones to equal the number of subscribers in the states. Lets not even try to compare the number of cars.

That comparison is silly. The population of Canada is actually fairly dense and clustered. 3/4 of the population of Canada live within 150Km of the US border.
You would be better off doing something like comparing Canada to California. Both have roughly the same population. California has a moderate population density, comparable to the Canada/US border region.

While your facts are correct, you are missing a VERY important fact. California is nowhere near the same amount of land mass as Canada and therefore it only supplys services to a much smaller area. We still have to service, with the roads, healthcare, postal service, and the list goes on, a HUGE area, regardless of the limited population up north. The solution (although I'm not suggesting it should really happen) would be to chop off the northern part of the country and make the southern part our country and leave the rest of the tundra to take care of itself. That is obviously not a solution.
Also, you failed to mention about what a serious financial mess California is in.
As for the guy whining about all of the great rights our natives have, I beg to differ. Our natives have the most drug, alcohol, abuse and poverty levels of anyone else in the country. I doubt many would want to trade places and go live on a reservation. What our government has done, and allowed to be done to the Aboriginals in this country is heartbreaking.

Read your history.
Then you'll realize Canada are Loyalists (meaning we do not rebel) unlike the Americans, and like to keep things private, easily embarrassed and will not stand up for ourselves.
The Queen could over and proclaim her absolute authority, and most of us would just watch to see what happens, not realizing if she actually started to take power.
Do that to the Revolutionary, Rebellious Americans, and that'll be a show to watch.

You can't really blame people for getting in a huff if you are just continually trying to straw man them. I mean, ranking Canada as a very racist country? For all the traveling you claim to do this is an asinine statement, what do you expect people answer with?

The comparison is apt. It is an economies of scale question. If a country is doing business in America there are low barriers to becoming a national company and selling your product nationwide to 300m+, so you can move into California with relative ease. However, moving into a similar market in Canada is a relative pain in the ass, there's a multitude of issues that cost money and are reflected in the price.
Also, as a smaller market we are more prone to oligopolies and price collusion.

Seriously, those look like the thoughts of a child. The only good point you make is regarding cold climate. But lots of countries have cold climates, and Canada is known for it. Anyone who came to this country and was surprised that we have cold weather, isnt exactly the sharpest tool in the shed.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
comrades!! good news from the western front!
our great garbage disposal specialists are striking and are demanding that every garbage dispoal specialist gets to have the benefit of banking sick days and more pay! However, the evil capitalist swine are saying that the free market dictates wages! WHAT DO YOU EXPECT a capitalist swine would say?!?!? I laugh at those pigs!
in other news, our great comrades at the ????? ?? ???????? ??? ??????? are demanding that casual workers get the same benefit as fulltime workers. however, once again the capitalists swine believes that existing workers get decent pay and should not complain! oh how I despise those capitalist pigs!
now the pigs want to have a private tier healthcare to mitigate the wait times. however, anyone who wants to mitigate wait times to save lives have already committed treason and should be excecuted.

Hardcore communist countries like China is heading towards capitalism!

Perfect timing. I will be leaving Canada within 10 years, hopefully 5. I would love to see this country sink!!!!
Let the losers enjoy bankruptcy and still hail Canada is the best country in the world.

If you don't know why natives have the benefits and right to self-government, well then, you've seriously got nothing to complain about. They aren't exactly rolling in money and their situation is a result of what Canada did to them in the past.
I'm proud to live in a country that grants equal rights to everyone regardless of orientation, race, religion etc. Even in England there is strong support for a nationalistic and racist party...
I also find it amusing how the past few pages are praising capitalism despite the fact that it was a key factor as to why the economy became a dud. It's also why many Americans live in poverty, cannot afford healthcare and many other things. Have fun living in a country where not everyone receives the opportunity to partake in a fair distribution of the country's wealth :P

Of course I do. But whether I agree with it is another issue.

Aboriginal people have definitely more rights than an average Canadian.

Capitalism is the natural way. It has been like this since the beginning of mankind. Socialism, communism etc are just stupid creations of some evil ideologists in the past couple of centuries.

4) Why when most Canadian banks are charging ridiculous fee off every service and people still borrowing(deposit) their money to the bank so they could make more money off your money?
5) Why one company, namely TTC, is owning the bus, subway and streetcar service all in one so they can screw us in every strike, and the Torontian just let it get away each time???
6) Why the malls are closed on Holidays (by law) when that simply against our basic right and freedom that the country promote?
7) Why garbage collection, school and transportation is not essential services by law when it is essential for everyone's living?
The list can go on and on.... :o

I think you do a great disservice to discourse with ignorant statements like this. The fact is there is no country in the world that is 100% capitalist, and for good reason. The only problem with capitalism is humans. We need some regulations to keep us from shooting ourselves in the foot. If I were to make a capitalism/socialism shake though, it would probably be 90 capitalism/10 socialism. You only show you have no idea what you are talking about when you argue capitalism vs. socialism as if our only choice is one or the other when every single developed country in the world is a hybrid of the two.

I can add a bunch to your list.
Canada is a loser country.
To me, the only way is to leave this place!!
And this type of person is the answer to the thread question.
People who allegedly hate the country, but don't leave.

lets get something straightened here...
Canada is in my blood running every second, and I love this country so much more than anyone here. When I mention negatives of this country, it is so that we can try and fix them, not for the sake of letting Canada down...

I don't have a social science degree. But I do have common sense and I do know what capitalism is all about.
I am wealthier than most people and this is probably the reason why I prefer capitalism. This is another reason why I don't like democracy because most people are poor and a democratic society will be dominated by the majority, who are poor. The poor would rob the rich. This is what's happening here. Note that my definition of poor here is anyone who is less wealthy from I am.

I'm glad discussions like this are taking place, even in such a limited form as this forum. It means people are finally waking up and beginning to question WHY things are the way they are. That's the first step to changing things for the better.

That character was created by someone who hates capitalism, but the words are totally correct. Self interest is the central tenant of any economic system (as pointed out as long ago was when Adam Smith described it in Wealth of Nations).

1. There needs to be more competition in the industry. Use the smaller firms like iTalkBB.
2. Petition government to stop using union. I heard the government loses $5 million per day if the Toronto Liquor union strikes. The government should just hire non-unionized workers to replace them.
3. Exchange rate? 1 CAD = 0.87 US
