dismantle it or go to home depot and rent a white van. Also after you drop off the desk, you can use the white van to sell crap speakers and cheap suits from the back of the van like in the scam thread.

Do it ghetto style using shopping carts from no frills and push it down the sidewalk. Pretend to be the homeless tax accountant.

Nothing less than a helicopter will do in your situation. Maybe even a small jet.

1. Purchase a hand truck and go for a walk.

2. Purchase a piece of wood, 2 swivel casters, and 2 fixed casters, and some nuts and bolts, and make your own hand truck and go for a walk.

3. borrow your friends hand truck and go for a walk.

4. find an friend who has a car and convince them to go for a drive.

5. rent a car and go for a drive

6. steal a car and go for a drive

7. post on RFD/CL/Kijiji asking someone with a pickup truck/van/SUV to help you out in exchange for monetary (or sexual) reimbursement.

Obviously i left out 'brain transplant' because at current, its not possible. But when it is, it may also be a great option....

Assuming this place is far, you can't drive, and it's not a store that delivers you'll have to pony up for a taxi or get a friend to help. If the thing is BIG maybe a taxi van?

You can try also try craigslist post...

If it's desperate get a friend to spend the day with you lugging the thing by hand across the city. Plan your route.

Mine suggestion is sort of in the vein of a skit of Itchy and Scratchy.
'
What you do is take a course in AutoCAD, Wood Working and after you graduate, you take a laptop to the store, camp at the store and do the render of the desk in AutoCAD, then you go cut down your own tree and finally, putting your wood working skills to work, you make the exact same replica of the desk. Getting it from the forest where you cut the tree to your home is your problem... I'm not going to hold your hand through it all the way.

GENIUS!

Re-think

You really don't need a desk after all.

Your title, "Re-think", implies he 'thought' in the first place. Having to ask a question like that implies he didn't...and can't...

Better yet, vedia should just ditch the desk. If it's been over two weeks and he still hasn't had the desk brought home from wherever it is, he doesn't need it. Just buy a new desk and have that shipped home.

One time, Staples lent me one of their dolly carts to take this big printer out to my car. The box was so big it would not fit in my little Corolla. So I just kept walking, and got all the way home, and then walked back to Staples to pick up my car and return the dolly.

i dont have a car but i need to bring home a large desk. how would i go about getting this done?

Some options come to mind:

- Convince the city to build a giant motorized conveyor belt from the store to your house.

- Drill two holes at either end and put an axle through it. Then attach 4 wheels and a jetpack to the desk.

- Build a humongous see-saw and calculate the weight required to drop at the other end of the see-saw in order to launch the desk to your house.

- Disrupt the space-time continuum and create some sort of worm-hole (blackhole?) that leads directly from the store to your house

- The sikorsky helicopter they used to attach the top of the CN tower should be able to do the job

- cut it up into many many small pieces. carry them home one by one in your pocket. reassemble with glue.

That's all I got for now. There are probably simpler ways... but as your post inherently indicated, this is a very tough problem and the solution is far from obvious.

do like the drug mules do, swallow it then go home and s#!t it out back. You may want to cover it in plastic first.

What kind of budget do you have? Are you unable to perform physical tasks? Because it seems like those are limiting you to no options.

My budget is bus fare. I am super poor.

I live around 40 blocks away, I can lift and carry parts of the desk, but no way I can do all of it, my arms will probably fall off afterwards. The desk will not fit in a bus or a bike either.

COMON RFD, put your heads together and lets solve this problem.

You sir, are an idiot.

You can buy a desk for $1 in china, but it will cost too much to get it to your house. Therefore, DON'T BUY THE DESK FROM CHINA.

Your solution is as simple as your problem, don't buy the desk. and if you have already bought it, be a man, and fork over the cost of a rental van. or borrow somebody's. This is not a problem, its a feeble attempt to find a solution whereby you get the desk to your house for little to no cost, and you get to stay lazy. Shut up and just move the desk already, or don't buy it.

I guess you also don't have any friends, parents, or someone who does have a licence. Does you mommy also spoon feed you your din din?

PAY SOMEONE. there are no other options for you. There are people with pickup trucks or vans wiling to make $$ everywhere, just ask, post on CL, etc etc.

This is ridiculous. Either OP wants someone to volunteer their van and time or this is BS.
Options boil down to money or effort, OP insists neither can be put forward.

Do this on a weekend.

Get a day pass.
Tell 5 people under 19 that you need their help carrying home a great treasure. It's better if they are younger than 12 and are gullible.
Dismantle the desk so it can be split between 6 people/1 adult, 5 kids.
Take the bus home with the pieces in your possession.

COMON RFD, put your heads together and lets solve this problem.40 blocks is somewhere around 10km. My 7 and 9 year olds can do 10km with a decent weight backpack in less than 4 hours. I've done over well over 30km a day with well over 20kg backpack. RedNeck your backpack / get some good rope, strap that sucker to your back and get some exercise.
