Pretty good price for this drive. I don't think it has hit that price point before.

This is at NCIX. You can get free shipping with the $10 gift card (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=26890). Link here (http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=27912&promoid=1146).

Good price, same as the $65 320GB WD Passport I bought off the Sig deal, switched out the Scorpio inside with my 1000HE's and put the netbook drive in the Passport enclosure. Used Acronis true image, took 1/2 hour. Quiet and reliable drive.

would this be a good drive to swap into a PS3? I am still running a 40GB in mine.

According to one of the reviews:
"Just got this for use in a 2.5in enclosure but to my horror it draws more than 500mA when running. For those that don't know, it means you can't run this on the USB bus alone and you need external power."

I also want to put this WD Scorpio 320GB 2.5IN in an external enclosure. Does anyone know if I can run this on the USB bus alone? Thanks!

I was going to do the same but I wouldn't take the chance.

can't you just use the Y splitter type USB cable to get power from 2 usb?

It looks like the WD Scorpio needs more than 1A to start, which is more than what 2 usb ports can support. I wouldn't take the chance either.

I don't understand why this would require an external power source when the WD Scorpio Blue 320GB I pulled out of my WD Passport does not.... it's the same WD3200BEVT

I have a 250GB BEVT (blue) and it only requires a single USB. I don't see why the 320GB version would be much different.

Good deal. Wish I would have waited before I bought my 250GB.

Noob question, do you need any firmware update for that?
