so, i am planning to get my gf a iphone 3g s, her plan from rogers does not have contract for a long time already, but since her plan is so cheap, they can only offer her $5XX to HUP to the iphone 3g s,
so i am wondering, if she can cancel her rogers account,
and then i will use my own name as a new customer, and get a 3 year contract with the iphone 3gs for 199, and would that work?
but i also want to know if i can keep her number, and then how long i have to wait until she can take over my contract?

hmm something does not seem right. When last was a HUP done on the account?
I'd say it should be eliglble for the $199/$299 pricing. Try again or talk to customer relations stating you want to cancel because you cannot get the ne iphone for $199/$299 and maybe get a better plan as well.
oh and does she have a data plan? you need one to get the $199/$299 pricing.

plus depend on her current monthly plan and what tier she is at.

yes but if the person is already out of contract, especially for a long time, she automatically gets same price as new customers, sometimes even cheaper

thanks for all you guys help, when she sign up for rogers 2 years ago, she didnt get anything, like a contract or get a phone, just a plan with rogers with basic plan $25, so she can cancel her contract anytime... but she doesnt have have data plan, so its going to be $5XX for her to upgrade, she does not get treated well on prices because she only joined for two years.

that probably has to do with the fact that she doesn't play the "i want to go to Telus because they have better phones and cheaper plans" card.
She needs to talk to retentions

So even if she does open a new contrac she will need a data plan. I say call retentions and get a deal with them
You don't want to loose that tenure with them.
