Ok, recently my contract has ended with the 3 year contract i signed in 2006. Now i'm planning on getting the iphone 3g, which came out with a new price of $99. Do you guys think its worth it? From what i hear, the price stands only when you sign a data plan contract, is there anyway to not have the data plan, without pay additional fees, and etc?

If you are going to get an iPhone, why not the 16 Gig 3Gs?

Secondly, why would you want the phone with out data?

the extra $100 is very worth it for the 3GS. Even if you don't care for the space or the speed you can always sell it and buy a 8GB 3G and still make a nice profit.

As for the data plan, it's now mandatory and it's a $100 to cancel. So just add that amount to the iphone.

yes, even tho its $100 more to get the iphone 3gs, some people would rather get the iphone 3g due to the $100 save. But i might end up getting the 3gs depending on the situation.

secondly to your response, is that data is a fee, a fee which has to pay each month. Since i am a work university student, i'm trying to minimize the expense which i have to pay.

Yes, the cheapest data plan is $25, but if you don't want to have a data plan just call Rogers and ask, you may talk to someone who's willing to work out a deal with you. If you're getting an iPhone without a data plan though, be sure to call in and have all data blocked on your account to ensure you don't get any surprise bills.

Have you considered getting an iPod touch? I have a 16B version and its not bad. I'm not a huge fan of the interface, and the lack of multi-tasking is slowly driving me crazy, but it has WiFi and runs all the iPhone apps, but remember it doesn't have a camera or GPS ( or a digital compass ).

Nor does it have the ability to make calls..........:|
