Switching from Telus to Rogers Iphone 3Gs Plan

Our Telus plan for a standard phone is about to end in a couple of weeks.

I want to get the 3Gs with the 30 dollars for 6gb data plan/

Do I have ANY negotiation room for a voice plan,since I am switching from being a telus customer for almost 7 years to Rogers?

Unlikely; tenure with a different carrier doesn't matter; since you're a new customer to Rogers you'll be able to get advertised offers and not really anything else.

If you can get off the iphone ideal though, you might be able to swing a sweet deal with Telus for something else and still get a good, if not better, data plan.

Alternatively, you could try buying out someones Rogers contract and see if that tenure applies to you and try to use that as a bargaining chip. It's a lot more complicated though and I'm guessing phone number transferring issues might make it less appealing.

Hey, that's a good idea. If you're doing a transfer of responsibility though, the tenure doesn't transfer so the original owner has to have a plan that you want before you attempt to transfer it into your name. I'm pretty sure that one can find decent plans available for transfer over in the B/S/T forums.

Thanks for the tips guys.

I WOULD stay with Telus, but I loathe blackberries. I know they would probably offer a very good deal to stay onboard, but I'm slowly leaning away all things PC and PC like, so iphone is just another step.

I'll report back what I am able to get from Rogers.

hey Morphius909, I'm interested in what you can get from Rogers too. I'm in the same boat you are. I have a mac, I'm with Telus on a blackberry curve. I don't like blackberries either.

But I'm interested in the Palm Pre vs the iphone. I'm leaning towards staying with Telus (they've been great to me) and getting the Palm Pre. By the time my contract ends (2011) I think Telus might have the iPhone.

if your just changing handsets, then you don't need to swith to roger' you just wait till telis comes out with a simcard and pop it in the iphone 3g, if you do this, you dont loose your seniority with telis
