For those who have got either iPhone 3G(s) or HTC Dream/Magic android os phone for the first time...

Exactly what type of plan did you get, also how much montly $ did it come to?

I am really considering getting myself a smartphone... probably HTC Magic.
I am not a heavy voice user but I would love to have that and I sure will use up that $30/6GB plan.

Need more information from you..are you a new customer or existing customer.
If the latter, check out the retentions thread and you'll find out what people are getting in terms of plans.

New customer - you must sign up with atleast a $45 voice and data plan to get the phone at the lowest contract pricing.

Cheapest right now for Rogers you can get is EPP voice plan of $20. Add $30 6gb data plan, you're paying $50 + SAF + 911 + taxes a month.

Fido (iPhone only) $15 voice plan + $30 6GB plan which comes out to $45 + taxes a month.

unfortunetly if you're a new user you have little to no options.

Pretty much take what they offer you and call back in a few months to try and negotiate something better.

The only option I can think of is buying or taking over somebody elses retention plan and buying the iPhone/Android device out right and popping in your sim card.
