I've had an iPhone for close to a year, and the Magic is better in most respects. Mind you, the iPhone is a great device, but it has become rather stale. Below I will list the pro's and con's of the Magic in comparison to the iPhone.
Pro's
-you can multitask (e.g.-I can surf the web or IM while listening to Shoutcast radio)
-much quicker UI in comparison to the iPhone
-Android is more open, you can install apps outside of the Android Market
-ability to view MS Office apps and PDF files
-push Gmail (priceless)
-trackball is nicer to scroll with than constantly swiping
-better onscreen keyboard
-a more configurable user interface
-better internet browser
-I can sync with Ubuntu!
-better phone book
-syncs everything over the internet to your Gmail account, so you can edit everything on your computer without installing one app
-really easy to unlock the phone
-Youtube videos are HQ, iPhone Youtube videos are standard quality
-OTA updates
-highly hackable with a variety of ROM's (waiting for Haykuro to crack the Rogers version)
Con's
-only 2.5 GB of memory (expandable to 32 GB)
-dragging is not as smooth
-proprietary headphone jack
Wishlist
-support for XVID video

hmm.. were you using the iphone straight out of the box???
-you can multitask (e.g.-I can surf the web or IM while listening to Shoutcast radio)
-backgrounder
-Android is more open, you can install apps outside of the Android Market
-cydia
-ability to view MS Office apps and PDF files
-you can view on iphone just not edit
-push Gmail (priceless)
all about preferences i guess.. i use push ymail
-better onscreen keyboard
i think you are the first person to EVER say that any touch keyboard is better then the iphone
-a more configurable user interface
sbsettings kills any config imo
-better internet browser
preferences i guess... the touchscreen makes the surfing experience better imo.
-really easy to unlock the phone
apple iphone is pretty easy to unlock, cydia, install yellowsn0w for free too
-Youtube videos are HQ, iPhone Youtube videos are standard quality
you can watch youtube in HQ on iphone as well.
i like the potential of the magic and plan on getting one once it comes out in white on rogers.. but i don't find it much better then iphone just different..

Just give the Magic a try, you'll see that you'll like it more than an iPhone.

lol i already have... i hate the plastic light feeling.. hate the cheap screen... but i see the potential in the OS in the future... as of right now the iphone is a better product imo.. especially with 3.0, the new hardware and the future jailbreak

A jailbroken iPhone is very comendable.
One thing I really like on the Android devices over the iPhone is drag and drop file manager. I would cut my arm off if I had to do everything via iTunes.
Does a jailbroken iPhone have drag and drop file manager?
Also another question, does the iPhone have widgets?
