adecco and Appleone are the well-known ones for me
additional ones: http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=toronto+employment+agency&meta=
on a side note, how do I construct my cover letter for an employment agency when you do not know the exact position you are applying for? Like thats the point of going to an employment agency right? They help you find a position.

Say something like "my xxx years of experience will be of use to your clients". So basically replace "company" with "clients". Otherwise it's the same thing. You want to write about what makes you employable.

The best agency will depend on what industry you're in.

There are Adecco agenies everywhere... one right across from the Y at Scarborough Town Centre. They got me a job super quick! :) It all matters at how good your recruiter is and that you talk to them about your career/job aspirations so they can best-match you for a job. I gave them two resumes when I went to the office since my skillsets vary, one of which was a general one (customer service, clerical/admin related).

I would go directly into the office for more info. Or call a branch and make an appointment to speak to a recruiter face to face.

Is Adecco a job agency where you could walk into the office and hand over your resume?
Or require to book an appointment to meet with the recruiter?
thanks

Yes it is. I went in earlier this week to hand in my resume. They took a look over it and told me I could register on the spot, made me do a bunch of tests + sign a few forms which took up 2 hours of my time. I have an interview with a recruiter today. I had to book an appointment for that since I was unable to stay much longer that day. So hopefully all goes well. :|

Another question. Does Adecco help people find full time careers? or is this agency for people who need temporary (short term) jobs?

Yes, Adecco helps people find temporary, permanent, part-time, full-time and contract work. A temp job can lead to a permanent one depending on how well you do on the job and how much the company needs you.

Just a quick question to you guys; will Adecco check all the references if you provide them with any( even if it's McDonalds or something ?), and how often do they check ? Would this agency be good for a high-school graduate like me with no real professional experience ? thanks

^^^ Call the employment agencies directly and ask to find out for sure. I don't think being 18 is a problem with registering to any of these services... a friend of mine was 19 when she got a job at at a call centre with Kellys.
