Luckily the 6070 is one of the easier Nokias to unlock.

Include your IMEI # (Serial Number, get it by pressing *#06#), and the fact that it's locked to Fido in Canada.

D582: thanks for the quick response and website.
Just curious, is posting my IMEI # on the WWW a concern? Sorry to sound naive, but how do they do it? is there like a database of unlock codes somewhere?

I wouldn't be too concerned about posting the IMEI. It's your SIM card number (IMSI) that authenticates you on the cell phone network.
For phones like the 6070 and older Nokias, there is some sort of mathematical formula based on the IMEI, the MCC (Mobile Country Code) and MNC (Mobile Network Code) it is locked to. So I believe there are some calculator programs that are used.

You can get unlock codes on eBay for less than $10.

you can't unlock a prepaid, a prepaid is not a physical object, its a service from the provider,. thats like saying you want to unlock a battery, umm ok??? good one.
you can unlock the handset, which you do not have to tell us about the prepaid part, that is irrelivent. thats like saying your date of birth if someoen asks you for your first name only,. get it?
