I posted a request for $500 Rogers gift cards to pay my big bill. See the deal thread (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?p=8860627#post8860627), I clearly said I need to use the card to pay the bill and I never modified the thread. Notax contacted me and said he has $500 rogers gift card and he confirmed the card is able to be used for bill payment. I even said he has been using the card to pay his bill.

I asked him to come with me to a Roger store to have the transaction done, but here is what he said in PM:
you can still use the gift card to pay the bill after they bill you it does not matter, but I am not going to wait for you to pay those bill, I can verified the balance with you. as sometime it take them 10-15mins to get this done, of course it depend with the agent.

However, the fact is the policy set by Rogers is the gift card is not for bill payment. I then asked for a refund, but Notax is claiming that is my fault that I dont know the policy and refused to take the card back. I agree that I did not do too my research but he claimed the card is good for bill payment and he knew he will not be able to do that so he refused to come with me to a Rogers store, and he will not work out a solution.

be careful in dealing with him.

it takes 5 minutes to call or ask a rogers store if they take a gift card as payment. you should have done your homework

I agree. You're crying over your own mistake.

It's a difficult mistake, and truthfully, I didn't know GCs can't be used for bills. Gotta check the fine print before laying down that much money...

However, you probably received a decent discount from Notax (since NOBODY pays face value on RFD). So knock off 10% to 20% for a fast sale. Flip your $500 GC and move on because it's not like your GC is worthless or scammed with $00.00

It didn't turn out like you expected, sure, I agree with you. But knock off a few dollars and get your cash back - or trade for FS/BB/Staples/HD/Indigo GCs since they're popular.

Apparently Notax did him homework also by saying the card could be used for bill payment ? Two-way street , give him his money back .

i agree

OP asked Notax if he can pay the bill with it and Notax should be honest to tell Op about that since it seems like he knows that GC can't use for a bill payment as a fact.

but i guess this can go both way, lesson learn OP !!

I agree I did not do much homework myself, but the point is Notax knew that Rogers will not take gift card as bill payment and I did asked him about this, but he covered the truth and lay on me (that is why he was not willing to meet in a Rogers store to complete the transaction). I am not saying the gift card is fake (zero balance or expired) but he was not honest.

I got 10% off similar to buying other major gift cards, but may have to resell it for 15-20% off because it is not less worth (as least to me).

How is this the OP's fault?

The seller deceived him, regardless of whether the OP did his homework.
