gm is cutting down their dealership in canada as well. Thing is, not if/when they will have any discounts though. I'm keeping my eyes open one dealer where i am right now.

The thread's title says "GM/Chrysler"; the article is exclusively about Chryslers. GM is cutting its US dealerships in a very different fashion and I don't expect firesale prices - just yet.

Isn't GM dealership closings be in 2010 October? they have till then to eliminate inventory or GM buys it back, something like that??? Hence no fire sales :(

Exactement. That being said, other sources are saying that the ch.11 declaration has produced a new ultimatum for GM dealerships. The following is from a verbal discussion, so it's not authoritative:
Those dealerships that have already been chopped, GM will agree to buy back their parts and car inventory and will, in exchange, agree to simply let the franchise expire as of 10/10. If the dealer accepts, they must agree not to take legal action against GM. If they do not accept the deal, GM won't buy back the inventory and will terminate the franchise post-haste. Simple as that. Sounds brutal but I understand the rationale.
IOW, for those GM dealerships who'd prefer the legal fight, there might be fire sale prices within the next couple of months. For the rest, expect a gradual winding down of operations without much in the way of far-out deals.

sounds better than the Chysler dealership slashings
Chrysler wouldn't take back their dealerships' cars.

I think they can do better as I have heard that anything worth buying is selling for 1k under MSRP. So if you want to go and pay 19k U.S. for a base Nitro that's up to you.
Just phone the dealer and they will give you the low down.

Don't worry, I got my eyes and ears open for any opportunities to get my hands on any inventories. If I do, I'll of course post up the vehicles on here for everyone.

Do you know of any dealers that are looking to sell off their vehicles for lower than MSRP prices? If I'm looking for a GM I would like to know who to call. Thanks in advance!
