Hi,
I am looking for online universitites at which I can start and finish courses at my own pace. I need to do only one course this summer. I already looked into Athabasca university and its expensive. Any cheap alternatives?
Thanx

Athabasca is the best way to go because other universities will most likely accept that course as a transfer credit. Plus your textbooks come with the course fee, which would be $715.

Just remember that with the exception of some IT programs you would have to take some of your courses on campus at Harvard either in the summer school or in the evenings. You can still take a large number of courses online and you don't even have to fly to Boston. ;) Someone wanted to know if online schools are reputable. Obviously Harvard is, but your degree is not the AB or BS a full-time student would get but rather an ALB (Bachelor of Liberal Arts) or if a graduate student, an ALM......but it is still a Harvard degree. there are lots of other good US schools..U of Texas has an online MBA! Oh yes, it is open admission to Harvard's extension school. Take three courses, pass them with B or higher and apply for admission. They even have some financial aid and bursaries. I believe they still give 50% reductions in tuition fees if you are a teacher. (Just putting in a plug for the old alma mater):D

I've been checking out the info on some distance learning MBAs from various schools around the world and I'm surprised that no one on this forum made a post on DL MBAs, especially since some of the prices of these programs are pretty hot.
University of Manchester has an online MBA for Financial Managers and Finance Professionals for 17,400 GBP, which is about 31,460.58 CAD. pretty hot deal, especially compared to the MBA from Schulich. someone in the Careers section said the Schulich MBA is $60,000 CDN and Schulich isn't even ranked as high as Manchester on the Financial Times website. I don't know how much are Rotman or Ivey's MBA programs but if they are more expensive and the schools are ranked lower than Manchester, then Manchester would be a hot deal.
The only high end business school I've found that offers distance learning MBA is IE Business School in Spain. However, it requires a 2 week residence, one week before the program star and one week near the end. It's ranked at #6 on the FT website and the entire program is about 35,000 Euros, which is 55,015.79 CAD. Still cheaper than Schulich.

Thanks everybody for the responses. I am already doing my undergrad studies at queens university. I need to take an extra course over the summer and get my credits transferred so that I can graduate next spring. I am overloaded during the school year.
I am looking for an online course that I can join and get started anytime and finish anytime.

The Continuing and Distance Studies @ Queens [http://www.queensu.ca/cds/] not an option for you? It saves the hassel of getting permission letters [http://www.queensu.ca/artsci/lop/] to study at another institution.

Try TRU in BC. They're more flexible with start dates than Athabasca. The fees include materials and they depend on the price of the materials. Remember that you need a letter of permission to study at another school and transfer back the course.

Oxford has a online program as well, and so does syracuse and ucla as well.
as far as ivys go other than reputable harvard you also have cornell but that is only for some courses and they only give certificates in professional fields.
Hmmm... in the states there are so many. Also the onther one that is available is Depaul in Chicago, but it is kind of expensive because the school is basically desperate of reaching for funds and it overcharges.
Oh! and BU boston university but it is also kind of expensive.

Thanks for posting the info. I was also doing some research about online undergrad studies, as I cannot transfer some credits to universities here in GTA! :(
As a result, I got a few universities which can offer me transfers and take me in. University of Wisconsin (http://www.uww.edu/cobe/distance/onlinebba/index.html) and Athabasca do top my list, but their fees are somewhat higher. Can anyone suggest some other institutions where I can study undergrad business programs as well? Thanks a ton.

Their fees is 625 per course, which s pretty decent. dusnt include txtbooks tho.. but i can always find an e version or get one frm amazon for less than 10 bucks. I dont see why i hav to shel out 100 bucks extra jus coz they include textbooks. :)

Cal University is "California Intercontinental University" and not part of the California University system. I can't say anything about their programs, but don't be confused by the name.:cheesygri
