I prefer the 30% off Previously Viewed at Rogers
But if they don't have a title you want, you can check out BBV i guess

They have a display in-store to emphasize this as well!
That said, I was just thinking today about how lots of people probably somehow don't know that.

I wonder what they do with the second disc. I know every rental copy comes with both, but I assume every copy they buy from their supplier has both discs. Do they just toss them or something? Also, what do they do with the digital copies? I wouldn't buy Curious Case of Benjamin Button without the special features though. I watched some of them, and they were very well made.

I find blockbuster has a better selection of previously viewed than Rogers. I'll check out both and see if anything is good for a cheap gift! :D

Anyone see any worthwhile blu-rays in the Vancouver area? Haven't been to BBV in a while, but Rogers usually has crap. Seriously, the one by my workplace is continually selling Bangkok Dangerous.

the one at Broadway and Blenheim always pulls titles the fastest.
The one at Oak and 16th is good also.
Kerrisdale one usually has the latest titles pulled a few days slower than the one at Broadway and Blenheim.
You're right that Rogers usually has crap....they have like 20 copies of Wanted still priced at 19.99. WTF?

Just wondering. When you bought the movies pre-viewed, did you get them in the rental case or did they hand over the Blu-ray case for them as well?
Might be picking up a few movies tomorrow :)

Yeah, the one on Kingsway/Royal Oak-ish has a pretty big selection, but kinda older titles. They even have a copy of Narnia Prince Caspian. Anyone find Bolt PPV?
They had a new/single copy Harry Potter Goblet of Fire for $14.99 NEW.

My BBV in Toronto has original cases (in some cases, it seems like some titles come in slightly different cases from eachother - I don't know if they are special cases that are bought for-rental, and different ones that were tradeded in, you'll notice that some have a matte blu-ray logo at the top that is printed flat on the plastic and some have a chromed logo that is embossed onto the case).
The BBV I visited recently in Montreal had only rental cases for their used blu-rays.

You should ask for the blu ray case. I picked up a used copy of the Dark Knight a couple of weeks ago and asked if they can put it in a blu ray case instead of the regular one it was in. They did it with no problems.

The matted cases are the cases that basically all movie companies use, where as the case which is almost shaped slightly different and has the chromed logo embossed on the case, are movies that Sony puts out. I'm very particular on this also.
If I saw Dark Knight in one of the cases which has the chromed logo, I wouldn't buy it. I would look for another copy in store that had the correct case. I know this sounds super anal of me, but that's how I roll!
Mind you, if there was only 1 copy of a movie they had, and it was a good price, but didn't have the exact blu ray case it should, it wouldn't stop me from buying it. If I can match up the correct case with the movie, then of course I'm gonna do it.

I didn't see any copies of Benjamin Button or Taken at my local BBV in Moncton, but I did pick up The Wrestler and Slumdog Millionaire for ~$24 after trading in Vantage Point for a $10 credit, when I bought the movie for $5.60 anyway.
Thanks Guys!

Title needs to change for sure. BBV 2 for $30 is dead for sure. That ended like 2 weeks ago at least at my local store. So is the trade blu-ray for $10 min value i think

The 2/$30 deal is still on at my local BBV. I think it says on their website that the sale is supposed to last till August 30th/09:

Umm yep it does. So your BBV is doing something screwy.

I saw that too in the fine print. Maybe if a store doesn't have many BR's left to sell, then they can take this promo off. I know all of my local BBV's have the deal going on, but they also have tons of stock. Maybe if your BBV doesn't have much for sale to begin with, it could be a reason why they aren't running the promo anymore.

That's cause Blockbuster is selling pv'd copies of Burn after Reading for $9.99. You'd probably get $5 if you tried trading other titles they have priced at those levels as well, such as Vantage Point, Drillbit Taylor, The Eye, etc.

My blockbuster still had the signs up, but apparently they don't offer $10 min. anymore.
They said they have periodical "Most Wanted" Blu-ray's that have $10 TIV, but everything else varries.
