I just got a ticket today for proceeding with a right turn contrary to a sign at an intersection. I made a right turn and completely did not notice the sign there. The officer said if I go to court and enter a guilty plea, I could end up paying a fraction of the cost ($110) and possibly get no demerit points. It was really just an honest mistake.
The traffic agent I went to said he could try to get it thrown out but wants $275+GST but I think that's quite expensive and I'm not sure if he would win. Anyone know what possible solutions I can take to this? I'm a G2 driver and my insurance already takes me in the behind!

If you are going to court and plea guilty, the fine may be reduced but the dermit point may still be there (in contrary to what the officer said). There will be a minor conviction under your record and your insurance company will find this out the next time you renewed.

Any opinion on what I course of action I should go with? My insurance broker was consulted and she told me my premium would not be affected but I would not receive the conviction-free discount (but this only applies if you've had your license for more than 3 years and I've only had mine for a little less than half a year) so I am not too worried about the insurance side at this point.
