Affluenza - DeGraff, Wann & Naylor - "Affluenza, n. a painful, contagious, socially transmitted condition of overload, debt, anxiety, and waste resulting from the dogged pursuit of more"
Fast Food Nation - Shlosser - "To a degree both engrossing and alarming, the story of fast food is the story of postwar America"
Go to the library or a book store and READ THESE GEMS!
I'm no tree hugger by any means, and both book have caused me to open my eyes considerably.
For those who have read either, comments?

I've been fed so much leftist propaganda throughout my whole high school education why would I want to add to it?

I thought one would be the Bible, and the other one would be any edition of Playboy. <_<

What makes you assume that it's leftist prop? Have you read either one of the books?
Fast Food nation is prettyy good. Heavy on facts to back up it's statements.

i read FFN when it first came out in hard back. it is by no means 'leftist'. in fact it was a bit dryer then i expected. to me it was a fair and accurate view of the industry.

If you like Fast Food Nation (which I did and do), then you may also appreciate Food Fight, by Kelly Brownell, PhD.
I'm in the middle of it right now and enjoying it.

Sure, Fast Food Nation is a bit leftist, but why is that a problem? I am a business student but I enjoyed that book and found it to be very informative. Regardless of your political views, it's always good to get the opposing viewpoint.

If you liked FFN, check out Reefer Madness. It's also by Eric Schlosser, and talks about the drug, illegal immigrant and sex/porn trades.

i've read ffn and McWorld vs Jihad and other anti-globalization/corp books, and do agree with their messages mostly.
however, do you really think a year from now you will be eating less fast food/junk food than now?
yah, those slices of pizza are gonna kill me, but i'd rather die early and live happily than live long and never experience the joys of eating krispy kremes, starbucks frappacinos, beignets, etc...
