With the canadian dollar rising, to 91 cent, up 7 something cents for may. Looks like its gonna hit parity again with rising oil and commodity prices. Oil being in it $60 dollar range. Doesn't look like its gonna fall. Do you think we will see ever fall in those ranges again?

Could be a while.. A long while. The CAD$ could very well be one of the 'safest' currencies in the western world right now.

Really hard to say. The price of oil is a definite factor, as is the consensus about the economy.

When everyone thought that the economy was in severe recession worldwide people flocked to the US dollar for safety causing a major demand and values for all other currencies to drop. Now with the misguided belief that the economy is okay, which isn't reflected in unemployment numbers, other currencies are rising again.

I bit the bullet and didn't sell my USD. I'll probably regret it (again), but it's a bit of a hedge. There's two camps, deflationists and hyperinflationists. The latter extreme looks at USD becoming like Weimar Germany, the former believes the US is looking at unconventional ways of effectively creating negative interest rates.

Despite all of the talk that other currencies (or a basket of currencies) might replace the USD, and that the USD is printing money like crazy, the USD is still the world reserve currency. Even if another currency/currencies replaces the USD's status, all the nation's debt is denominated in USD, so there is a built-in demand for american dollars.

I kinda see it as a self-fulfilling prophecy.

If the big boys want to is $1=$1, then yeah, we'll see parity. Plus $1.00 is such a round number.

It this case, I think people actually wanna see 1=1 again, even though it might not be good for the economy at this moment. Chances are, we have a good chance of reaching parity again. Plus I wanna get games for $10 cheaper again and I the z-5500 back at $199 on those dell deals.

I can't wait until it hits parity again and everyone starts talking about rumours of a "north american union" and a "combined dollar".
