Hot in the sense that you can get it over a week early, Walmart has it for pre order for June 9th. Wanted to use my EB credit when the guy told me it isn't released yet. I told him loblaws was selling it and he said to go and buy it, that they were breaking the law.
I played the demo this afternoon and decided it was a game I had to have, not realizing it doesnt come out till the 9th.
Edit: I saw both the 360 and PS3 versions ( I bought PS3) $69.99
edit2: metacritic lists the release date as the 2nd, so maybe not as early as I thought, but early nonetheless.

lulz. at worst they'll get fined by the publisher, but street dates aren't "the law".

If there's a street date it is illegal to sell it before that date. That's why it's called a street date. If there isn't a hard street date, retailers can sell them whenever they get them.

Microsoft has been known to ban users that play games significantly before the street date... Doubt it's going to be an issue with this one though.

Also take into consideration of how games get leeched online before the retail date, stores can get them up to a month early and be told not to sell them before said date, in which some sneaky customers or even employees can buy then way before street date (and hence how retail copies get online before said street date)

Yeah, if there's no orange label on the case with the street date on it, they can sell it when they like.
I've been playing it already and so far I'm liking it. The destruction in the game is really well done.
