My heating system is a Hot water heating system , it is powered by gas and boil up the hot water to heat up my house, you can read more at http://homerepair.about.com/od/heatingcoolingrepair/ss/heating_types_4.htm

There is another hot water tank to boil up the hot water to provide the hot water for showers also...

I'm thinking about upgrading to Tankless hot water system, however, i'm not sure if it is compatible in my home.

instantaneous hot water systems are ment for producing small volumes of hot water. You need a boiler that is ment to heat large volumes of water. You can buy a condensing boiler that is %90+ efficient, more than a tankless.

lets hope your not boiling anything becuase if you are I fear for your safety.

I have a tankless water heater and I like it, but I don't think its a good solution for a home where you can have multiple hot water users at once as either the system is over sized or you have multiple systems installed to meet your needs.

one option is to use the high efficiency boiler for your hydronic heating to also heat your hot water for domestic needs. Using a heat exchanger (between the water/glycol mix in the heating system and potable water) and an insulated storage tank. The flue of the traditional HWT is a major source of heat loss, you still have a tank just no heat up a second flue.

I would assume that most hydronic heating systems would be able to handle this addition as the heat load over the day is pretty small.

FYI there are condensing tankless systems that are ~98% efficient
