My brothers IR receiver did and now obviously can't use the speakers anymore. But I tried his sub with my IR receiever and it worked so I know its the IR that died. Do you know if its possible I can hook up his spherex sub to mine and run dual subs? I doubt it but just want to double check.

If not then what can he do with a useless sub? I wonder if there would be a way to open it up, take the 5.1 decoder out and add a sub in jack to the back.

The Spherex sub has an integrated amplifier which drives the entire system, just as on other systems like the Logitech Z-5500 and Klipsch 5.1. Similarly, the Spherex also has multiple inputs.

The only way to run dual subwoofers is to ONLY use the Stereo Analog input. Output from your PC (or whatever your device is) with analog and then use a splitter adapter so you can feed the same signal to both subs.?

I suppose you can also try splitting the digital coax but I am not sure if that will work properly. You use this to do this:
