Have this LCD which I find excellent except for one annoying problem. This may just be that I don't know how to set up the volume properly.
If I am using my dvd which is hooked up by HDMI I have to turn the volume down on the TV to about 12 while when watching cable through my Cogeco HD box hooked up by component I need the volume set at 50.
Now the problem occurs if you fire up the DVD and forget to change the sound it just about blows the speakers it is so loud.
Anyone know how to equalize the two if it is possible?

Yes but box does not support HDMI. Some people report problems some say none. I was thinking of trying HDMI out for cable to see if it made a difference but cannot see what it would have to do with the sound difference. I had a similar problem with my Rogers cable box at previous home and it and the dvd were connected just with coaxial cable. I found a setting on either my digital box or previous TV that set the sound as the same from both sources or something. As I recall I needed to used cable provided remote to control sound for both. With my Cogeco and Samsung LCD I seem to have to use the TV sound for the DVD.

I noticed that with component and my Rogers HD box, that the volume was much lower and the TV had to be set to higher to get the same volume output as when I used HDMI and my Philips DVD player. With both on HDMI, no problems, they are the same.

Maybe I will try it sometime. Don't have an extra HDMI cable but I will test by reversing them. If the difference is in the cables then it should make the sound higher on the TV and lower on the DVD.
