So I'm considering a job change and trying to figure out what my monthly net, take-home pay will be.

Well, I visit the CRA web page, get the info for Federal & Provincial taxes, EI, & CPP. I plug that all into excel and note that my current paycheque is higher than it should be. Upon further examination I notice that I am not having provincial taxes withheld.

After asking a few friends, we are all in the same boat.

Is this typical? What's the deal?

I'm just trying to get the most accurate numbers for the potential job switch.

I think the Provincial taxes are part of the Federal tax deduction. More likely you're not doing the calculations correctly by not factoring in your basic exemption and/or using your marginal tax rate instead of the appropriate rate for each level of income.

In Ontario (and im pretty sure in every province except Quebec), your provincial tax deductions are included with your federal deductions since the Canada Revenue Agency handles collection of both taxes.

Well, I followed up with payroll, and you are correct, the provincial tax is included in the federal tax line. They should call it something other than "FED TAX" then.
