Has anyone done this at York U? Is this even possible and if so, what are the steps? Thanks for any information.

I am not from york nor done this before. Just IMO I dont think you can appeal but you can inquire as to what you lacked in respect to be a successful applicant.
Even if you have a outstanding CV, there are always someone better :cheesygri
I don't know which program you applied to, but consider the acceptance ratio and average entrance mark. Meeting minimum is never sufficient.

Agreed. There's always stronger applicants no matter how strong you are. Especially this year since we're witnessing the highest grad school application rates in history across the board, as more people are opting to stay in school or go back to school due to the recession. If you're heart is set on York, I agree with the previous poster in that you can ask admissions where you lacked and how you can improve on this. Then, apply next year. If they see that you have a history in applying (I believe more grad applications have a section asking if this is your first time applying), then you'll show that you want to get in and will likely get in next year provided you have improved in whatever you are lacking. Be respectful however in your dealing with them however, as causing a fuss may stick in their memories for next time around.
As it is, their decision is final and will likely never be revoked. Unless you have tangible evidence that you were discriminated against, I'm afraid you're out of luck. Good luck with next year.

Thanks for your responses. Ever tried calling York U admissions? Its busy all day long and immediately at 4p.m. is the answering machine. The place is very frustrating.

Yeah, every admissions office on the planet is the same way. I would suggest, if possible, to head up there in person. You'll get an answer more quickly and honestly.
