This deal may only be at the Oshawa Walmart Superstore.

I was able to pick up a 32GB Patriot Xporter XT Boost USB flash drive for $45 +taxes on clearance. Seemed like a decent deal to me for a large stick. Most places are selling it for twice this price.

Images and specs here (http://www.patriotmemory.com/products/detailp.jsp?prodline=7&catid=27&prodgroupid=64&id=656&type=11).

Jebus....that sounds good, like to have that for my PS3. Was it marked as clearance or just scanned in that way?

What the heck, I didn't think Walmart even sells patriot usb's, let alone 32GB ones.

I actually have this exact same usb drive (Patriot 32GB)... I bought it a few months ago for around $100 from canada computers. The write speed is a bit slow, but the read speed is super fast. I love the rubbery outside, because you can toss it in your pocket and not worry about keeping it scratch free.

...The write speed is a bit slow...

How much is 'a bit'? That is...is this only 10% slower than the fastest write speeds...or is it DOUBLE or TRIPLE or worse?

i had one for a bit; write speeds are horribly slow (especially filling the 32gb's at write speeds 4 ~ 9 MB/s) .. reads are quick enough though.

price is good for 32gb, but personally i would prefer something faster

UPDATE

The new price for this is $35. That's right $35 for 32GB Patriot Xporter XT; comes out to about $1/GB. Not too shabby

Where?!

These were only confirmed at the Oshawa Walmart Superstore, but I am sure these are out of stock by now. I'm not driving all the way to Oshawa just for a jump drive. :)

32GB! Wow! These things are getting huge - and for such a great price. I really feel ripped off thinking what I've paid for much smaller hard drives even just a few years ago.

Just to let everyone know. They are still in stock at the Oshawa WalMart Superstore. I picked one up, and they had another 6 on the shelf. The price was labelled $45, marked down from $55, but rung up as $35.

Great deal. I already had the 16GB one, and really like it.

Confirmed with a quick drive down the road for me. There are now 5 left on display, and the sign still says $45.00. Price rings up at $35. Note that this supports Vista ReadyBoost, although you probably won't be crazy about the write speeds. This drive does well with big files, but poor with small files. Why, I don't know, but testing shows that to be the case. Still, $35 for that much storage is nothing to sneeze at.

That's pretty typical. Drives usually have ae easier time with large files. I doubt there's much point using such a large drive for ReadyBoost though.

read speeds are always faster than write
but most ppl are concerned about the latter than the former

Was wondering if anyone attempted to use this as a Solid State Drive and install their Windows OS on it to improve their overall computer speed?

It would be slower than a regular hard drive.

None in Orillia, ON. (new supercenter)

this Wal Mart is beginning to annoy me. although we recently jumped to a supercenter, there is an aggravating lack of electronics. but they can be found at most other locations.

i'm ready to smack someone.

Not even stocked at the WM Supercentre on Queen in Brampton.

Any luck in the GTA?

+1... especially if you have a lanyard attached to the other end (so the cap won't fit on it anymore)

I have a smaller version of this. I think I lost the cap in under a week. :(
