While these aren't OMG spectacular titles, I agree that at roughly $8/title with shipping, it's not too shabby. Some of these titles are actually cheaper in the sets than being bought in the 2/$x0 campaign with the Fox $7 trade-in at HMV.

What's interesting is all three collections listed for $20.99 are titled as Blu-Ray Collections and identical to their $61.99 counterparts.
We may not have been mistaken after all as these are most likely priced-down catalogue entries. Notice the release date is tomorrow? This detail can also be confirmed at Blu-Ray.com:
Action: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movies.php?id=4350
Funny Guy: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movies.php?id=4354
Jock: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movies.php?id=4356

Guys, if you look at the image on the website clearly then you'll find that the $20.99 is for DVD as the pic clearly does NOT have blu-ray title bar across the top!
Look at the $61.99 image and it'll show blu-ray title bar across the top of the box so I believe it's just a typo on BB's part.
Also the description on the $20.99 only says DVD features whereas the $61.99 says "Blu-ray features" instead of "DVD features"~

At $20.99, they're competitive markdowns for titles that are not as feature-laden.

May 11th, 2009, 06:21 PM
$20 for 3 DVD is a reasonable assumption given typical prices. As is $60 for 3 BRs. $20 per BR is already considered a "competitive markdown" by studios as majority of titles is $20 or over. Given the incorrect title it is possible the salesman may not bother checking and will just give you the BR version, in which case good luck!

If there's a confirmed BR equivalent for $60+ then an argument is all you're likely to get. This is definitely DVD pricing.

It's not a price error. They just made a mistake in the description. The UPC code is definitely for the DVD collection.

Worse case is they ship me the SD DVD collection and I go BB for a refund and they don't refund the shipping cost (which I doubt). Best case is I get the BLU RAY discs in the shipment or need them to admit a mistake and keep me as a happy customer.

I did the pre-order for the Miami Vice/U571/End of days BR 3 pack which was initially set with the DVD pricing. They ended up shipping it with no problems.
However If I recall correctly, it was listed under BR on the website. The issue here is that while it says BR, it is listed under the DVD section and it is likely that it will ship using the DVD product code from the warehouse. You may still have a good shot having it adjusted back at the store.

Since Terminator is the only great movie in this set-
you're basically paying $25 for one old movie
(even it was Blu-Ray that's A RIPOFF
/I use IMDB (http://www.IMDB.COM) for a guideline to my collection-
If it doesn't have at least a 7 median it's probably not very good and even with more than a 7 there's a bunch of clunkers.

Day after tomoro was actually a pretty good movie and I would imagine on blu it would look amazing. Irobot is an alright movie and its either tier 1 or 0 which is reference quality which makes it a blu that a lot of people want for their collection.

For those getting the exchange, this is not a bad deal.
Sure, The Terminator is the only classic action flick of the bunch, but I find both Day After Tomorrow and I.Robot to be in the same class as Poseidon and Next - certainly not great movies, but immensely watchable, especially in HD.

The sad thing in all this is that this blu-ray collection "should" be priced at around $30.
I have a PS3 but I'm boycotting buying movies until the prices come down.
There's some especially old movies, and some that aren't that awesome either that are $20 more on blu-ray. Why? I mean who would pay $20 more to see the Truman Show in HD?
DVD $6.99 http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=L&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFSM2094683&catid=20449
Blu-ray $26.99 http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=L&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFSM2158476&catid=24103
Does it really cost $20 more to produce a blu-ray disc? They charged us more for DVD than VHS but DVDs were cheaper to produce but at least, the jump from VHS to DVD was worth it to some extent.
I just don't get it, especially in this economy. Want to screw me over like the music industry did, well, you know what happened to them. Took them a while to realize what they needed to do.

its because it was recently released as a blu-ray... goo look at when truman show came out for DVD, im sure it was like $25.... just look now at new releases and ull see that blu-rays r usually only 7 dollars more or so... ppl buy new release DVDs at like $24.99 still... 10+ years after dvds have been popular...
and plus, u can get newer release blu-rays used for like $15 at rogers usually...

I did this about a month ago but mine was for the Funny Guy set. They were not going to give me Blu Ray, I ordered for store pickup. I got my gf to bicker with them as we drove 45 minutes into Regina from Moose Jaw. I felt bad but I was happy that finally a store honored their mess up. It wasn't the gift set but they gave us each movie individually. Napolean Dynamite, Young Frankenstein and Little Miss Sunshine. I've watched all 3 and am very happy with the $22 or whatever it cost.

We will be refunding your order, but you are welcome to keep the Action Hero Collection DVD for free; you will be able to see this refund on your card in the next 3 to 5 business days.
We would like to apologize for the inconvenience you might have experienced.
We thank you for shopping at BestBuy.ca and hope to serve you again in the near future.
