I was wondering if anyone here has tried any buffet restaurants in the states? My favorite is Golden Corral. Whenever we are in PA, we always go there for dinner. The food there is really good for buffet food. The price is pretty good too (about $8.00 for lunch or $11.00 for dinner).

Another decent one is Ponderosa as you get your main course with your buffet. I love their chicken wings as they're huge.

Old Country Buffet is another popular buffet chain. They're food is okay, it really depends on the location.

I never tried the KFC buffet, as I don't want to have a heart attack. ;)

I also heard rumors that McDonald's might open some buffets in the states. Can you imagine all you can eat Big Macs??? U.S. citizens really love their buffets. :)

I always wanted to try Cracker Barrel! No, its not just cheese, as all Canadians would think.

A Mcdonald's buffet would be awesome!! Endless Big Macs, McChickens, nuggets, McFlurries and pie!

ps. I googled mcdonalds buffet and it looks like it's only offered for Ramadan in Malaysia

Golden Corral is good value for the price.

todai is popular in LA when we were there for sushi but we did not try.

We like to go to Maggiano's in the US and get family style - which is made to order buffet with limited choices. Nothing beats all u can eat creme brulee and cheesecake. Very similar to Cheesecake Factory but they are lighter on the oil and butter in the sauces. We tried it in LA, Houston, DC, Raleigh.

Sizzler ain't that bad overall (I usually wander over to the one on Westchester when I have a day at LAX and want to go for a walk/run). More of a salad bar though, lol.

Seriously, Las Vegas is the place to go if you want buffet, haha... McD's all you-can-eat, OMFG, im repulsed just at the thought..

Cracker Barrel is not a buffet restaurant. Old-style sit down -- at least when I was there. Food was good, though.

I love Golden Corral and Ponderosa :)

Ponderosa can be good (there was one I loved in Cleveland, but it closed :(), but when it's bad it is rotten. We simply won't go back to the restaurants in Niagara Falls and Buffalo and my parents have written off the one in Erie, PA as well (which was their mainstay when cross-border shopping).

Golden Corral is simply awesome for a non-Vegas chain buffet.

I never tried the KFC buffet, as I don't want to have a heart attack. ;)

Tried the one that used to be in Buffalo (it has since been remodeled into a straight KFC restaurant) and it was alright. I don't think we came even close to heart-attack range. :D

I also heard rumors that McDonald's might open some buffets in the states. Can you imagine all you can eat Big Macs??? U.S. citizens really love their buffets. :)

Oh lord, if my wife hears about a McD buffet, she will drag me across the lower 48 to find it.

Old Country Buffet is alright. Our favorite move is to show up for Sunday breakfast and about 1/2 hour before 11:00AM and then after we eat our breakfast food they change the whole buffet set up to roll out the dinner foods.

Done eating for the day -- more time for Target. :)

You've just crushed my dreams of gorging on biscuits and gravy for an hour straight.

I miss Ponderosa... I'm sure if I go now, I'll probably find the place average, but that place was great when I was a kid.

The only buffets I tried in US were in Vegas. My personal favorite is Bellagio. It's affordable and good. They're weak when you get to the sushi, but more than make up for it in their desserts. I usually gorge on the smoke salmon. The food quality and freshness just seems to be light years ahead of what you'd expect at a buffet.

I hear the Wynn Casino buffet is even better. MGM Grand was better than most. I've tried others, but nothing worth mentioning.

Old Country Buffet...one of my all time fav's when visitin PA. Weekends they have pretty good steak and baked salmon. Atmosphere lacks, but it's a great deal and good food. Think we paid $10.99 per adult, drinks included (pop, milk, tea & coffee).

Yea, same. We'd always stop on our way to my cousin's place. But I had it recently and it was pretty bad. But my parents have been there 3 times in the past few years, and once was really good they said, but the other 2 times it was horrible. Guess its YMMV.

Yup, Old Country is my fav. Surprisingly the dishes are pretty good tastewise and fresh/hot. Usually buffets have stale looking/mediocre food and Old Country puts other buffets I've been to in Canada to shame. It even beats the Tullalip Casino buffet as well and it's only $12. Ice cream and softdrinks are included & unlimited. The last time I went, I had steak and it was damn good. (not dry at all) I was surprised at the quality for the price.:)

When we drove to Florida, we stopped at a lot of Shoneys. One had fried catfish.

My favorite haunting place. I love their roast beef or venon. And their steak as well, salad's ok.

They closed most of the Ponderosa's in the USA as they were losing a ton of money. The location at Niagara Falls is the only one left in the Buffalo area. I avoid that location as well as the food there is pretty bad, and a lot of times is undercooked.

I found a very good Ponderosa in Meadville, PA. I used to go there on the way to the Grove City Outlet Mall when I am on one of my shopping trips. Excellent food at that location. But, when I go to PA, I always have to go to Golden Corral. :)

Old Country Buffet is okay. The best time to go is 30 mins before lunch starts during breakfast. That way, you get breakfast and lunch, and you're set for the day. :)

I *LOVE* southern fried catfish (ie. catfish caught and fried in the south, not northern catfish served "southern style").

I haven't had it since the last time we went to Disneyworld -- probably 20+ years. At Duff's Smorgasbord in Florida. Hell, I'm not even sure that place hasn't gone out of business.

Cici's Pizza is okay...great for lunch...but excessive CARBS!!! The food is fairly fresh if it's busy. We always stop by one on our annual Florida trips. Great to fill up before heading for an outlet mall. I love their sticky cinnimon buns... hot from the ovem (nothing but pizza dough with sugar, cinnimon & butter)...but ohhh soooo goood!
