I seem to recall that there were some companies that you could order lobster and other seafood and have it delivered from the East coast directly to your door. Instead of just googling some of these companies I thought I would see if anyone on here had any experience doing this. It sounds like a nice treat if you were planning some type of meal for a special occasion and such.
An example of what I dug up is http://www.lobsterdelivery.ca/

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy locally (if you are looking at live lobster which is selling at $5.99 - $6.99 per lb, live), like some Chinese supermarkets (GTA). Typical size from 1.5lb to 5-7 lbs.

Speaking of lobster, how long can you transport live lobster?
We're heading out to the cottage this weekend, wondering if/how I could pick some live ones up, keep them on ice for the drive? Would they last a day or so?
Or would I have to keep them in the water?

Every July we have Lobsterpallooza. We have had from Clearwater, but most of the time we know someone out there that flies back with them in their carry on.

I know, we just bought some on the weekend at Metro for the sale. I just remember that a few years ago a bunch of these companies starting advertising Seafood shipped directly. I'm trying to figure out if there was any advantage to using them (ie. cheaper, fresher, etc...) If you were hosting a special occasion or something, I was curious if any of these direct-ship outfits added any value. From what I have seen so far, they seem pretty expensive.
