I love Monoprice and have ordered this cable in the past and can confirm it's a top quality 3rd party cable. That being said, $3.52 is the regular price for this cable so it's not really a hot deal.

I've been using the cable from dx and its as close to the nintendo release as can be. plus free shipping. Monoprice tempts you with cheap products, but you pay up the rear in shipping

HMV has these for $12.99 right now. By the time you order the product from monoprice, add on shipping and then the exchange rate you're looking at $9 CAD. For the extra $5 you could stimulate your local economy and have you cables now instead of waiting 2 weeks. Just my 2 cents ;)

For the people who have used the component cables instead of the a/v cables which came with the wii -

how much of a picture and audio quality improvement is there with the component cables?

using an lcd tv and debating on buying the component cables. any input is appreciated.

thanks.

EXCELLENT Question!

I would also like to know, we have a 50". A few of the wii games have about 2" of black bars on the vertical. Would Component fill the screen full.

WE DO NOT want to zoom in on the image, but want 100% image:screen layout...is that too much to ask? :( Why did Wii have to come out without HDMI or Component stock? :(

We got this cable from monoprice. TBH, I don't notice a big difference, but can't (obviously) compare side-by-side. 40" Sammy LCD btw.

You will definitely notice a difference using component cables. Audio remains the same (still uses red/white; same as composite). Lines will be less jagged and text will be crisp. Here is an example.

Composite (A/V):

Thanks for giving me a good laugh early in the morning.

Do you honestly think that buying from HMV is "stimulating your local economy"? Other than financing the nose ring wearing, faux-hawk styling suburbanite 27 year old living in his parents basement employee, your statement is 100% wrong.

One could argue ordering through monoprice does the same for the local "economy"; at least you'll keep Canada Post (because I'm sure you're not naive enough to use UPS, right) working?

wat.

How does supporting an employee in the economy not directly benefit it? Regardless of what you think HMV employees are, a sale that within Canada does help the economy. Without going into detail, the significance is minimal, but the more money a store gets, the more hours it can give employees. The more hours an employee works, the more money they make. The more money they make, the more goods and services they can buy. The more goods and services they can buy, the more sales other stores get. The more sales other stores get, the more they can expand etc etc. Magnify this by every purchase made within the country and this is how the economy grows. The fact that we are in such an economic crisis right now is burdened by the fact that consumers are not spending money right now.

This is a moot example - the $12.99 cable - but the original poster does have a point.

The wii sensor is connected to the wii by a thin wire. I am afraid that it will be cut and I want another standby sensor.

There are wireless sensors here
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=108&cp_id=10830&cs_id=1083001&p_id=5054&seq=1&format=2

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3305

So that is really a great deal (the sensor and the cable) for the wii.

you can't navigate the wii menu without pointing so you wouldn't be able to start any game without having the sensor bar connected.

I would go with MP....As you never read any problems with deliveries from MP. That being said, DX is pretty good at correcting their mistakes with deliveries

Significant difference in pic quality for me.

But that's not the big thing ... the thing is that we moved from a 27" CRT to a 42" 120hz, 2ms panel ... and when we did the gaming became very, very sluggish on the lcd. It was almost unplayable in certain situations.

For example: Wii Sports Tennis, I was pretty good ... then on the lcd it was so delayed and sluggish, it was unplayable.

I asked the sales guy at toysrus and he basically said "try the component cables - they help with that problem" as he had the same experience with guitar hero moving from a crt to an lcd.

Once I got my cables it was much better .. not perfect, but better. Best 4 bucks plus shipping I ever spent.

I made a comparison with DX and MP. No deal with MP shipping fees.

I was expecting that MP will make a flat fee for the shipping or if you ordered more than $50-$75 worth of items they'll waive the shipping. No! Their shipping policy is ($4.xx * no of items) which is cold! I ended up getting the wireless sensor, the cable, the skins, the wii tools from DX. My order in DX was calculated as $165 and in MP was calculated as $150 + $50 shipping :o .

This is not the same one as monoprice...

They actually have the same as monoprice here :

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.9493

$9.02 shipping included... it's still actually cheaper from monoprice.

What is the difference between the two deal extreme cables, besides the prices $9.02 and $4.92?

The picture quality is different with the two dealextreme cables? or are you saying the actual cable looks better?
