I think this is a nice deal, same price as 2208wfp.
Even though different panel, you gain 1080 resolution and bigger size.
(slimmer back IMO)

If you can wait, this monitor was 170$ during the Jan2009 days of deals

so it might appear in the next Dell days of deals at a better price than 239$

how do they still make monitors without hdmi?

I bought an HDMI to DVI adaptor from DX and it works great (had to take out some extra pins though because the Dell monitor didn't have the pins for it...

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.8308

for just US$3 bucks you can always turn ANY DVI equipped monitor to an HDMI monitor... (no sound though)

That doesn't make it HDCP compliant though right? (ie. able to play bluray)

meh, you can probably find it cheaper in the BST ;)

lol what kind of post is that? Is it meant to be surprising that second hand stuff can be found cheaper than deals on new stuff? The same could be said about most deals really.

Nice find. I may pick one of these up. Going off their photo though I'm not sure why you needed to remove pins - they all seem to line up with holes in my Dell's DVI connector.

The point is that so many people took advantage of the Jan $170 sale, there are almost new 23" Dell's in BST quite often. eg. I just sold my 23" last week (ultimately I wanted 1920 x 1200 monitor).

This monitor is HDCP compliant.

There is no speakers so no HDMI is no biggies. DVI-HDMI cable or adapter can be had for cheap anyways. I had hooked up Sony S550 (1080p) and Toshiba A2 (1080i) and both were happy.

$170 is great, for >$200, I expect a 24"+...

Don't forget the enviro fee add on.

heh, a lot of us were spoiled w/ that Dell DOTD

and i think the reason behind the selling of many "like-new" Dell S2309W's is b/c most RFDers also subsequently jumped on the Dell 22" e-IPS panel for $190 (DOTD as well):D

I almost got this monitor at this price. After seeing a few posts it was $170 a few months ago, I decided not to.

Anyone know when it will be on sale again?
My 3 year old 20" LG LCD is close to death, only turns on every 5th time or so.

as a semi-pro photographer on the budget, this monitor doesn't cut it BEFORE calibration. After calibration, the colours are more accurate and is actually quite a value for the $170. the viewing angles leaves much to be desired.

I've a 20" ultrasharp 2007wfp, and it still is the best of many.

I do all my Photoshop on the Dell 2007WFP Ultrasharp. I was looking for a larger lcd, the 2208wfp iis the right size, but I hear it is a TN panel?

i can't vouch for the accuracy of the database, but i've consulted this before: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/

a colour calibrator is essential, as you know =)

Go for a 2209WA then. On Dell's website, it tells you the 2208WFP is a TN panel.

FWIW, they both use exactly the same Samsung panel. My gf stole this Dell I got @ the $170 DOD, and I far prefer the Dell's clean looks. The Samsung is a bit of a fingerprint magnet.

So they ARE the same panel? I suspected as much last year but others claimed otherwise.
