My daughter turns 16 on Mother's Day and she loves Indian food. We have eaten at the places around our home, and they're OK, but I'd really love to wow her with a fabulous place for her birthday. Can anyone recommend a *great* Indian restaurant in this area (Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville)? Buffet would be ideal, as family will join us and the more choice for them, the better.

With gratitude,
Chris

OMG, Sangam Indian Buffet in Mississauga closed down!!:(:mad:

Honestly I would suggest going to Kwality in Burlington... I haven't had better anywhere in Ontario.

I recommend Tandoori Flame (on Dixie north of Steeles). It has a lot of selection. Make sure you try the "ghol guppa" (savoury puff pastry that you fill with a tamarind sauce).

Being a brownie ;), I'm a fan of Bombay Palace's buffet @ Advance Rd.....for vegetarian options, Brar's @ Dundas/Wolfedale isn't a bad option. Tandoori flame definitely wins for variety - but sorta like Mandarin, it's got a ton of variety with everything being kinda ehn.

My non-brown friends, enjoy the Host - on Hurontario, close to Sq. 1

WTF! That place was awesome.

Great service and great food. Sigh.

Agreed. Too much stuff, and you really don't go up after 3-5 trips.
I didn't think the Host was buffet.

Brar's @ Advance Blvd. gets my vote, even though it's Veg. You dont even notice it. The food is so good, and flavourful, you dont mind there not being any meat.

Ive also heard good things about Minar Fine Indian Cuisine at Orenda in Brampton. Never been though, and always meaning to try it out.

Did you try a search?

I think we covered almost all the buffets in the GTA. http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/search.php?searchid=17256224&query=indian+buffet

Aww, no way! Sangam was awesome!

I really liked Tabaq (55 Matheson Boulevard East
Mississauga, ON L4Z 2Y5) but a few things make my opinion biased:

A) never been to the mississauga location, only went to the danforth one
B) I get an unfair advantage because my family knows the owners

I really liked the tandoori chicken and the lamb curry, but (B)

come to think of it, I'm not sure if I have anything of value to share, but I'd like to hear if someone has anything to say about this place.

A hidden gem ...

INDIA'S TASTE (Mavis & Ray Lawson Blvd ... just north of the 407).

Lunch and Dinner is $9.99. Full buffet with veg and non-veg choices. Apps (Chaat Papri) & dessert included -- you also get unlimited "naan". Food is NOT oily and NOT overly spicy. For the price, you can't go wrong!!

I was down on Hurontario recently and there is a sign where Sangam used to be advertising some new "Authentic Indian and Thai restaurant" coming soon. I should keep an eye on that.

i don't recommend "the host" by square 1...

food was below average at best...
overpriced for what you get...
therefore, poor value for your money

I'll second Brar's Sweets on Dundas. It's all vegetarian, and I like the choices. It's not a huge place, but worth trying. They are open everyday starting at 11 a.m. The lunch buffet is $8.99 on weekdays and $10.99 per person on weekends.

Brar's is okay. lots of selection but I found everything too sweet for my taste, where was all the spicy stuff? Seems like they Canadianized their food.. I like it hot or atleast mildly hot

And btw its 10.99 on weekdays now
