My girlfriend is going back to Seoul for 1 month and a bit, and I should call her from Toronto. Are there any no contract phone service (preferably works with cellphones) that allows unlimited calling for a flat fee or one with cheap rates?

I don't think you would want to do web conferencing to Korea. .kr is just like .au - poorly routed to...... EVERYWHERE. You're lucky to transfer files at 4kb/s between north america and korea, simply not enough bandwidth to transfer video or audio.

Best bet is calling cards, not speaking from any experience but I was bored enough I found you a website with more info on Calling Cards (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=korea+south+calling+cards+call+south+korea)

Maybe consider going back to the ol pen an paper if you're on a budget...

msn her if she has a computer available. Otherwise phone cards are the best solution.

I've been using these guys for over a year now with absolutely no problem. I mostly call India, UK, Sweden, Germany, Amsterdam and of course USA.

In your case, south Korea is $0.02/min on a landline or $0.059 if your calling a cell phone. For north korea its a whopping $0.484/minute (Ouch!!!)

Skype is just 2.4 cents/minute to a landline in seoul. Or for $5.95 (or about $4.50 if you do it by wednesday) you can get a month of UNLIMiTED calling to S. Korea.

Of course, you'd need to talk for a total of 4 hours (or 3, again if you do it by wednesday) for the monthly subscription to make sense, but if you plan on talking a lot it's extremely worth it.

I have a place in Costa Rica I travel to a lot, and Skype has never let me down.

Thanks everyone, I think I will go with Skype (unlimited calling to S. Korea).
