Perhaps someone knows a store that sell Audoengine A5 for less than they are normally being sold for in Toronot/GTA.

So far the cheapest I found were for $360 but they are out of stock.

Thanks :)

Thank you, I found this site through the authorized retailer list.
It has by far the lowest price.
However I will be destroyed by shipping charges.

Maybe something closer. :)

The other one is Mostly Digital in London, Ont. I think it sells for $360 Cdn. Otherwise, there aren't that many reselllers in Canada.

Thanks for your help. Most likely will go with Mostly Digital.

Do you own the audioengine 5 yourself by any chance.?

I was looking at the A2 a few months back (based on very good review of the speakers) but could not find any great bargain prices. Therefore, I have been holding out until now of going for it.

Maybe the next closest prouduct would be M-Audio & Swan (higher ranked by other RFD ers)

Thanks for the info. I did some research about SWAN. The only issue I have with them is the fact that the volume knob is located on the sub-woofer which is a big no no for me.

I have to look into M-Audio BX5a. The good thing about Audioengine is that they fully replace the need for the sub-woofer. Now if you still want to connect one, you can. With M-Audio BX5a I am not sure that's possible.

Hey Orochi,

I have a pair of A5's in white that I'm considering selling. They're practically new, as I just got them a few months ago (Dec 3, 2008) from The Mac Group (have the invoice, too). The reason why I'm selling: I'm thinking about upgrading my speakers.

Let me know if you're interested. I'm located in Toronto.

Upgrading? I thought after one gets those babies no more upgrades are necessary.

What are you planning to upgrade to?

I added some stuff, check your PM.

I was considering the speakers from B&W, specifically the 685, 683, or the CM series. Don't get me wrong, though. The A5s are excellent speakers, and they blow any speakers in that price range. They sound great, but I just want something with a flatter response. I really don't like hearing bass. It drives me nuts. I guess my ears are just used to studio monitors (the B&W are not really studio monitors, btw, but have a flatter response than the A5s).

Wow, I never even heard of Bowers & Wilkins speakers. Live and Learn.

Thanks for your input ;)
