Any advice on painting a bedroom?
I need to paint it light brown color. It's currently white.
Do I need primer? Any suggestions on what paint to buy.

No need for a primer if the room is already white ...
Benjamin Moore, Behr, CIL .....
All depends on what your budget is. If you have a deeper pocket, go for BM, otherwise, go down to Behr or CIL.

just make sure all the walls are prepped ie smoothing walls and filling up any holes and sanding them down

It's crucial to sand down any rought spots and wipe off any dirt before painting.
Get yourself a good quality Shure-Line Edger for about 5 bucks. Cut-in the edges and corners first and put at least 2 coats for a nice finish.
BM paints are more expensive but worth it imho. It's definately thicker and covers more with fewer coats.

Go with Benjamin Moore. They have great colour selection and paint came out nicely. We did our house in the span of 2 years. We used Benjamin Moore for the kitchen, family room, and master bedroom. We used Behr dining room, hall ways, other bed rooms, all bath rooms. Berh came out good but the colour and the quality of paint is not comparable to Benjamin Moore. Benjamin Moore paint is more expensive.

it's a good idea to wash the walls with TSP prior to painting.

hi
whats TSP?
Thanks
TSP (Trisodium Phosphate)
TSP is an all purpose cleaner formulated for removing grease, soot, dirt, mildew, fungus growth, grime and lead paint dust. Washing with TSP prior to painting insures that the paint has a sound surface to adhere to. The scrubbing opens up the pores allowing the finish sealers or stain to penetrate deep into the wood.
You can buy it anywhere you buy paint. It usually comes in a container that looks like a 500ml milk carton, and you mix with water.
