Went for lunch AYCE at Syogun today. This was our second time.
The first time I was very impressed - delicious dragon and spider rolls, very well wrapped. All the food came, and it had been a Saturday as well.
Today, it was a tuesday. So really, no excuse for anything as they weren't even super busy.
The waitresses were not friendly.
They got many of our orders wrong.
There were no spider rolls because apparently it was 'not in season'.
Most ridiculously: the "sushi" (if you could call it that) was the ugliest thing ever. I have never seen such big sushi in my life... and it was 80% rice. It was probably as thick as my wrist, I kid you not. I wish I had my camera with me for photos of these ridiculous pieces of 'sushi'.
And it was taxed on service charge as well. (and for the type of service we recieved, so not worth it)
We will definitely not be returning again. Very dissapointed that this place has completely gone downhill since the last time.

I've been there for few time for supper and it was good. Most likely that was lunch and not everything is on the menu. As for the sushi......no comment. lol

My friends went there last week for supper as well, and were not impressed. They agree that things have gone downhill as well. Their experience was not as bad as mine... but they won't return either.
Oh, I also forgot to mention the place was very dirty, but the waitresses were running around crazy busy (so they can partially be excused for their poor service - which I am paying for here!) as they were clearly understaffed.

Went there a few years ago and never returned again.
Reason was that the rice on the sushi was HUGE!
Also, portions were huge, so despite AYCE, we were only able to try a few dishes before we were completely full.

I thought this place was quite decent especially with the AYCE uni sushi(because I'm a uni lover) for $2 more. BUT it's true, the service is one of the worst among all AYCE I've been to.

Well...if you really feel that it is/was unfair; you can take a copy of the receipt, contact Revenue Canada and report them since they should not be applying taxes on the gratuity.
Just a thought.

Syogun was pretty good when it first opened. Then it started going downhill. Haven't been there in a couple of years.
