Locally I have 3 major manufacturers and none of them sell direct to consumers. I emailed a couple of contractors and asked for prices but was shocked at what they claim their prices were.. the yard/garden centers carried the same product for substantially less.

This might give you an idea, but this Saskatoon landscaping company has their prices online:

I got them at another store that retailed them for about 20% less than the prices listed there.

I should be finished my patio this weekend and will share my lessons learned. Base is complete and stones are awaiting installation.

I should be finished my patio this weekend and will share my lessons learned. Base is complete and stones are awaiting installation.

Job complete! My base was several inches of base gravel compacted tight.. packed like concrete. I used 2 long 1" pipes as screed guides to lay may sand bed.

Overall, it was a relatively easy project. A lot of hard work, but it came together pretty fast. Did the base on 1 day and the pavers on another. I used square 8"x8" stones for the patio and 4"x8" for my border.

I used the plastic edge restraint as well and this is the one thing that went a little wrong. I put it all down first to define my perimeter and then put most of the border stones down first. Then, as I was squeezing in the final cut pieces it would misalign everything.. if I was to do it over again I would put the edging on 1 side only until after the patio is done, then secure it. As it was, my wonderful curves got a little mangled and I ended up pulling up the edging in a couple of spots to do some adjusting.

Total area with path is between 450-500 sq.ft. and total cost was close to $2,000 for everything (stones, gravel, sand, tool rentals).

Here's our results:

This looks great! Did you use polymeric joint sand to lock the pavers in?

This looks great! Did you use polymeric joint sand to lock the pavers in?

I bought the polymeric and ended up not using it and will be returning it to Rona. I talked to a professional and he talked me out of it for the following reasons:
+ without extreme care, little cemented bits are likely to remain on the surface
+ removing bricks for repair in the future is made much more difficult

I do get the benefits, but in a pinch he put some fear in me and I went with bags of play sand. The "fan out" of my border stones leaves some larger triangular gaps that don't hold the regular sand well, so I may apply the polymetric there by hand.

...thanks all for the positive comments on the job.

You can go to any supplier and they should have a price list. I have a price list from Best Way Stone.
