Building the Death Star isn't the problem. Finding a place to display it is. Imagine the dust collected on it, how can you clean? Now, you gotta spend more money on a glass cabinet.

We were in the States last Sept, and picked up the Death Star, and the Star Destroyer for $199US each (Christmas and Birthday presents for me for the next year, lol) at a Lego store. The dollar was near par, and luckily they counted as a single regular piece of luggage on the plane (and lucky that I had booked before the started charging for every single piece of luggage!).

I've just finished the SD, and while it was alot of fun, it was a lot of work. The sheer amount of light grey will drive you mad. It is also huge, and heavy. The DS is waiting in a closet, I'm betting that it will be an even bigger challenge due to it's lack of symmetry.

One big thing to remember is that these are not toys in any way shape or form. So no "swooshing", and not for kids. You put them together, and they sit on a shelf looking pretty.

The DS at this price CDN is very hot if you have a serious interest it it. Chances are great that after this it will be gone.

The Dreamliner looks Ok, and I pity anybody who paid $120 for Girvous.

I really like the look of that Dreamliner, and I'm considering picking it up.

Does anyone know how the shipping works though? They wanted $10 to ship via Canada Post, which I think comes from the US, which would mean I'd need to fork over the tax once it gets to my door? or....

When purchased on the .ca site, these items ship from within Canada, so no worries about customs, duties, etc.

I have the Falcon... it took me 34 hours in total to put it together. It's sitting on a side table right now, I really have nowhere else to put it, lol.

Yup, no worries about extra taxes, duties, etc.

Another tip - if you're ever in a LEGO store in the States and you want to buy something, if it's not in stock, you can get them to ship it to your door for free, even if you live in Canada! They'll bring it in through their Canadian distribution channels so you don't have to pay any duties/taxes. As a result, you get the item for the US retail price (cuz comparing the CDN to US price, it's often ridiculous) and not have to lug your LEGO set(s) with you to the airport or through the border.

Man where do people put these things?
Due to lack of space, I had to put my UCS Millenium Falcon on the floor!

I kinda want the Dreamliner thing...but I already bought the Advanced Tie Fighter from a few months ago for like $80 when it was on sale on the Lego site...plus I shouldn't be spending that much on stuff like toys:(.

^ I was interested until I started looking for it.

 :O

From what I've found on this set:
"I can inform you guys that Vestas gave those wind mills to all its emplyees as a summer gift. Didn’t cost a thing. I work at Vestas here in Ringkøbing Denmark and i just got mine yesterday."
"There only made 25.000 of them.
The reason they ordered them to us Vestas workers was so that we could get an assignment. That was to find a Vestas Ambassador and give this set to."

Another item to add to my 'when i win the lotto' wish list.

I bought mine about a year after it was released from lego.ca, and I still got a numbered certificate. So I don't think it was limited to just the initial run.

I'm such a noob when it comes to Lego...I thought it came pre-built, then realized that you have to assemble it :S ... Yes, I was deprived as a child.

Well, I was having trouble deciding whether or not to get the dreamliner, as well as what to do regarding the F1 ferrari that's on sale for $90. I ended up getting just the dreamliner, and the total was about $90 after taxes and shipping, I'm hoping that my cashback from DG goes through...

What really sealed the deal was the poster and the contest for the different millenium falcons though, those things look sweet!

the dreamliner is a pretty good set, although the ongoing complaint about it is how the wings arent at an angle as they should be in real life.

I got it when it was $89.99, so the price now is even better (not including the shipping cost)

It may be expensive, but you get what you pay for. Find one other company that has maintained such high quality over 60 years.

Agreed, Lego quality is very quite good. My lego from the early 80's still fits perfectly with lego I buy today.

On the other end of the scale is Megablocks. That stuff is crap, and pieces from the same box won't even fit properly with each other.

The only thing I hate on Lego is their ridiculous pricing differences between countries.

No kidding. In an age where everyone is racing to the bottom and the quality of goods/services (even food) is dramatically declining, Lego is one of the few brands which bucks this trend.

I for one am extremely pleased to see that imitation knock-off may go under

Yikes. That stuff was just plain awful. I even remember making a remark similar to that when I was a kid. You literally had to shave off some material with an Xacto knife before the parts would fit with each other...
