been looking for a decent price on a 1TB drive (that is not a Seagate) and think i'm finally gonna break down and buy this drive.
Canada Computers also has this same drive for $5 more, if their locations are more convenient for anyone..

i'ld rather get it from ncix. PM and add the $10 GC for free shipping. Totals are nearly the same and you get $10 to use on your next purchase.

good idea! :D
how long does shipping take normally to Toronto? Do they im still paying for shippinPM one day deals?
edit: now that i think about it. if i don't shop at NCIX often, makes sense to purchase locally..
double edit: no PST! but I don't see the offer for free shipping w/ $10 gift card purchase!

I said the same thing last week (no one seemed to pay attention) when I PM'ed NCIX with Compu2000 and ordered them. For shipping to Toronto, the price was about $249. They're due to arrive tomorrow I think.

hmm nvm. looks as though the $10/free shipping promo isn't offered anymore. if you live local you may as well just pick it up from infonec direct. if you have to ship from infonec then buy it from ncix with pm and regular $10 shipping.

BTW, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend these drives. I use them in my dlink dns323 (2x1tb) and the nas enclosure is literally about two feet from where I sit and I can't hear a thing. Especially when its idle. Temperature is unbelievably cool knowing that thats TWO hard drives stacked up next to each other. The "downside" most people say is that it is slow...I dont notice it..im using it for my NAS anyways. Excellent drive!!

when price matching with NCIX..do you insert the cash discounted price or the CC price. if you insert cash discounted, will they just cancel it if it is not allowed or will they add the 3% and ship it?
still seem to save around $5 given that shipping is $5.99 and no PST.
bah nm, answered my own question..
for those that wanna save a few dollars on PST.. buy from NCIX and price match COMPU2000 (109.99 - NOT cash discounted)..
shipping is $5.99
put it on the credit card for the extra warranty and protection!

Not bad! The $89.99 1TB Hitachi from NCIX a few days ago was a bit better deal I think.

I have one of these, I had a minor issue with it the other day, but I believe it was an issue with my computer and not the actual drive itself.
I was copying about 5 gb of files to it, and the copying kept going at 2mb/s to 4mb/s (extremely slow)
I did some research online and it may have been a resource conflict issue, I'll try again today if I can but at the time it was a little disconcerting.

How are these things for people who own a WDTV. In terms of heat, loading & seek times?

I dunno if it'll be decent for WDTV, it's after all a Green Edition drive, so heat is not a problem. It's just a bit slower then others, makes a great data storage drive tho given that it uses less power and stay relatively cool.

With the release of the new 2TB WD HDD(RE4-GP 64M cache), this should be the new price for the 1TB

Some info on a potential problem with WD Green drives (models may vary). I'm still trying to get some info as to whether my EAVS drives are affected:

Good drive. I have 3 of them on a raid5 perc card (4 drives total) they run cool and quiet.
Not the fastest (80mb/sec or so) but good for storage (in raid5 I have about 220mb/sec)

No, the EADS/EAVS generation do not cause the runaway count as described in the thread.
Note that if you don't want the short-duration parking behavior, there's a utility near the end of the thread to lengthen the time or eliminate it.
