I'm pretty sure it's just one day, isn't it? But yeah, these banana plugs are on sale at or around this price about once a month.

Monoprice needs to improve s/h fee! S/H = $5.04 to GTA for QTY=10 (20 pieces) :(
How is the quality compared to this?

you are crying for $5? I need 2 LCD Wall Mount Bracket, and they charge me $120 shipping! If I ass a roll of ethernet cable, it's over $200 shipping!
This is insane

monoprice does suck as far as shipping goes.
the price for the plugs is fantastic. even after shipping....
Arctic EDIT: ACTIVE :) surplus on queen st. W. in toronto wants $1 for each plug, the plastic kind. in my opinion this is a great deal.

This is insaneOK I had to quote that just for the humour. I honestly don't know if $200 is exorbitant for shipping an assed roll of ethernet cable. ;)

Actually, lately their "daily deals" have lasted about a week.
I bought a bunch of these the last time they were on sale, seem like good quality and quite hefty too.

Very nice plugs. Have used a whole bunch in my home theater setup and they are of great quality.
Can't beat Monoprice's price. If you order a lot (few hundred dollars), get it shipped somewhere near the border. Shipping is then really cheap compared to what they charge to ship to Canada.

Active surplus is garbage. They want $4 for a single ($8 a pair) for banana plugs of this quality. That place is a dump.

I've bought those exact plugs a couple of weeks ago and I have been very satisfied with them.
BTW, for those that may be waiting on other items to make one big shipment from monoprice, once they are in your shopping cart (and as long as you keep open, i think), this deal will last past its expiration date. IE last time I bought that + a cable that was out of stock (and a bunch of other cables while I was at it) but I actually bought the plugs about 2 weeks later than the deal date. Luckily I had my browser still open at home and so I had the deal still active :)

That didn't work for me when I had a few of the 3' orange HDMI's in my basket. When the sale was over, I saw the price jump back up right away. :(

Easier access. I can screw off the cable without unpluggin the banana plug on a open screw, not so on a closed screw. Closed screw looks better, but who looks at the back of the receiver anyways?

Thanks, but then how often do you mess around with the plugs after you put them into the receiver anyways?
I see how it could be somewhat useful, but not at more than double the price..

I have the open screw type and they're not so great with thinner wire gauges, haven't tried the closed ones ...
I ordered the dealextreme set since I'm ready to solder and low mass is the best way to go
Still, you can't complain about a pair of plugs for 94 cents :D

I've got a few of the monoprice closed screw plugs and they work well. This time round I decided to order some "Nakamichi" banana plugs off ebay for a few bucks more (I got 12 pairs for ~$21). They use 2 screws to hold the wire and imo look nicer ;).
I'll see how they are when arrive from HK.

How often do you guys change speakers? Quick changes are the only reason to use bananas.
Bare wire will be a better connection, but likely won't impress your neighbours...
Monoprice will be a great place to get them though! If you are in AB or the GVA, MRO Electronics has some great connector parts for great prices.

Monoprice switches around every so often. I've seen the open and closed screws on and off at least twice this year already.

Am I missing something? Bare wire != louder sound (or educate me except for loudness, what else would make it not impress your neighbours)

Sorry, didnt' see this. With the closed screw type, in order to get a proper connection, you need to solder. With these, you just loop the wire through the screw and tighten it.. it's much more convenient. Like so much more. You can get away with not soldering, and bending the wires, but the contact won't be as good and you risk losing contact, mostly un-beknownst to you. The open screw type is also much more convenient, and stable as well. And, if you happen to switch speakers a great deal (like I do), then they're much better.

It won't make a lick of difference. It will either have contact or it won't..
Thanks OP, didn't order the plugs but am seriously considering this TV wall mount.

Right. So would you rather have one copper/silver strand of your cable making your electrical connection, or fifty strands?
Also, the rear-entry, "closed screw" types come off rather easily if they're not soldered and you do any work behind your receiver.

I love these things, also bought some 14 gauge in wall wire to run my surrounds and my "B" speakers to a different room. Used the 2 speaker wall plates with these banana plugs and now it is easy to just put away my speakers when our little one is in the games room/playroom.

You realize you're also implying a 32 gauge wire will give the same sound as 14 gauge speaker wires?
Please don't listen to this guy.

With the closed screw type, in order to get a proper connection, you need to solder.
Not necessarily true. Both types of plugs can come loose if used incorrectly. Just apply a dab of thread locker (e.g. LocTite) on the threads before you tighten the screw.
Of course, this assumes that you're using the correct gauge wire. If you're trying to use 22 gauge wire in a plug designed for 12-18 gauge, then yeah, I can see why you'd want to solder, but really you should probably just be using a different type of plug.
