Ninja gaiden 1 was fair and fun, Ninja Gaiden 2 was cheap and forced the player to be cheap.
Don't even bother with part 2 if you played part 1.
I beat part 2 1 level at a time because the game was boring and it was to frustrating to play for a continuous amount of time.

I think you are refering to the Xbox version cuz I know for a fact on the PS3 there is no part 2.

just to clarify:
Its PS3 Ninja Gaiden Sigma that the OP is referring too.
The 360 has Ninja Gaiden 2 for it currently. The PS3 will be receiving a remake of that in the future.

I'm thinking that it's unlikely. The 'Sigma' team (pretty much strictly a PS3 team) are making the upgraded version of Ninja Gaiden 2 (labeled Ninja Gaidem Sigma 2). They are pretty much separate from the team that made Ninja Gaiden/Ninja Gaiden 2.

^ arent they different games with different stories?It's a port/upgrade (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninja_Gaiden_(2004_video_game)#Ninja_Gaiden_Sigma) :
In 2006, Tecmo and Sony announced the development of Ninja Gaiden Sigma for the PS3. Eidos obtained the European publishing rights for this game. Itagaki had no direct role in Sigma, and judged it a flawed game, although he acknowledged that Sigma gave PlayStation owners a taste of Ninja Gaiden.
The Cell processor of the PS3 gave Team Ninja the opportunity to overhaul the game graphics to use larger and more detailed textures. Changes were made to the game world, with a few new areas and several additional save points and shops, and alterations to the game engine let players shoot arrows in mid-air, fight on water surfaces, and play as Rachel in some chapters and missions. Team Ninja added more enemies such as bikers, fish-men, and a new boss, Gamov, and Ryu's weapon choices are extended with a pair of katanas called the Dragon's Claw and Tiger's Fang. By shaking the Sixaxis controller, players are able to increase the power of their ninpos.
Although marketed as the "more complete" version of Ninja Gaiden by many gaming sites, Sigma omits a few features found in the Xbox games. It does not have the opening movie or any of the unlockable classic games (the initial Xbox release of Ninja Gaiden contained the SNES versions of Ninja Gaiden 1, 2 & 3, while Ninja Gaiden Black had the arcade version of Ninja Gaiden) and is missing one costume from the original, while missing two costumes that were available in Ninja Gaiden Black. In Japan, Tecmo engaged a local-based singer, Leah Dizon, to promote Sigma. She appeared in a commercial and sang its theme, and signed posters that Tecmo gave away at the game's launch. In North America, GameStop sold special editions of Sigma in their stores. These editions have an exclusive "behind-the-scenes" DVD, and contain a code that unlocks extra missions. However, the code proved to be usable on normal copies of the game also.
In 2007, Tecmo released a demo and a new game mode, Survival Mode, for Sigma over the PlayStation Network. The demo limits players to the first chapter of the game, but lets them play as Rachel in a separate mission. Survival Mode comprises missions in which players keep fighting until they have either killed all their opponents, or their character has been defeated.

is it over 15hours? apparently it's 1080p

Apr 20th, 2009, 01:30 AM
I just bought it a few weeks ago. I didn't record my playtime, but it was pretty lengthy for this type of game. I'm guessing ~15 hours is about right. Mind you, my first and only full play-through was on Easy mode (the mode you unlock when you die 3 times). I'm playing through on Normal now and some parts actually seem easier now that I've gotten used to the gameplay. This game is definitely harder than most though.
The game is not full 1080p. It supports it, but it's 720p native, and upscaled in 1080p mode. Very sharp looking game though.

Apr 20th, 2009, 02:56 AM
the game gets retardedly hard in certain spots. I'm at the boss level where a helicopter flies around you, shooting bullets, missiles, and dropping bombs. It could be beaten, but not in my situation as I'm stuck with 1 health vial (since the part of the level doesn't let you go back to buy more). You can easily die in less than a minute despite your best efforts haha
Cusco
Apr 20th, 2009, 09:39 AM
The game took me over 15 hours to complete on normal, and then another 10 for mission mode. I look at my game counter and I've put about 50 hours into this thing, finishing on normal and on hard. Very hard was just a waste of time because you get a tiny amount of health and you basically can't get hit or you die quickly. Hard on the other hand was a lot of fun but I had to farm those ghost fish (vigorian flail [] [] [] X + repeat). Mission mode is fantastic because it's pure combat and if you know how to use essence properly it's hella fun (jump, and as soon as you land hold down /\ to absorb essence quickly, then release for a massive combo).
Definitely pick this game up, it's not that hard, it just takes some skill, just like the DMC games. Start on Ninja Dog (easy) if you need to, but this has got to be the most addicting and rewarding game ever. I got frustrated with it sometimes because save points were poorly placed sometimes, but honestly it was one of the reasons I bought a PS3.
Finally, Ninja Gaiden 2 is coming in the fall to the PS3 (with a boatload of more content), so you'd be setting yourself up for something even crazier with this title. Honestly, for $20 it's a steal.

Ninja Gaiden is an incredible game.
If you feel the game is too hard, on the first level, if you die 4-5 times quickly, you will unlock a lower difficulty setting which makes the game much more manageable.

I am surprised over the excitement over NG in 2009. I first played this game in 2004, and the PS3 version is really just the 2005 game 'Ninja Gaiden Black' with upgraded graphics.
It is a good game, at least it was at the time, haven't played it in a couple of years. To be honest it's too difficult and frustrating for casual gamers like me. Most people playing it will probably not get past the Level 2 boss. The combat is fun but the difficulty balancing of the game is poor, and camera issues add to the frustration. I made it to the Level 5 boss before I gave up on the game.
I think Sigma has the added in "Ninja Dog" difficulty level from Black which makes the game easier.
As for Condemned 2, it has been $20 for months.

I once had a problem with Red Cases...wait a minute...I still do! Lol...I dunno, I just don't like them. Not because of the color...but because its "greatest hits". Something about having the original box and game that makes it more special. Remembering the times I got denied trading in my "greatest hits" titles maybe has something to do with it or maybe i'm just one of those crazy types. It's even more annoying that Assassin's Creed is $20 bucks in the clear case...but has the "greatest hits" bar on the very top of the art work. BLEH!!!

I once had a problem with Red Cases...wait a minute...I still do! Lol...I dunno, I just don't like them. Not because of the color...but because its "greatest hits". Something about having the original box and game that makes it more special. i don't mind if it says greatest hits, but i agree, the red case is an eyesore. nonetheless, i have three red cased greatest hits games

^ all a matter of personal pref., but IMO the opaque red casing is kinda ugly.
it'd look better if it was like the BD movie cases where there's a transparent colour (sort of like the HD-DVD red transparent case colour)

i don't get why ps3 cases aren't as thin as 1-disc blu-ray movie cases. Those look the best.

i personaally really like the ps3 caes...and i dont think u could fit 2 instruction booklets in a 1-disc thin blu-ray movie case...
i got lucky and got all of the greatest hits titles, but with regular cases, back when zellers had that 12.99 deal for games 29.99 and under..

I would go a step further and say one of the best Fighting/Action games ever made, on par with God of War II and Devil May Cry.
If you liked those games you will like this as well.

All gone. Got the last one at the Oakville store (Dundas and Traf).

To make room for both english and french manuals.
I don't think that is an issue, because most games have the french booklet and bilingual paper cover shrink wrapped outside of the actual case.

How does the difficulty of Ninja Gaiden compare to God of War 1/2 (I finished those on normal difficulty)?

For all you Londoners, the east london walmart has at least 10 MGS limited editions left and about 4 or 5 ninja gaidens as well.
