hi there,
i got my mobo+ phenom 940+ 4gb ram for 510 (tax and shipping included)
i am trying to get a 22" screen and a gpu now and need some help
i checked tiger direct and added these 2 items on sale
XFX Radeon HD 4870 Video Card - 1024MB GDDR5
BenQ E2200HD 22" Full HD LCD Monitor - 2ms, 10000:1
and got a total (including shipping &tax of $550).

the comments say that its a good screen. can anyone direct me to a better price/performance ratio
should i just buy a 22" screen for like $150 and a 4870 (512mb)for $170 (total=$320) from fs and later on go crossfire with a 4890 when it gets down to like $250ish
also, i forgot to add, right now i game at 1024x768, so i don't know if there is a big difference between gaming 1680 x 1050 vs 1920x1080

ther'es a HUGE difference, in terms of gpu power requirements and beauty
go with the 4870 now, good choice.
someone else can comment on the screen, but i suggest you get a VA or IPS panel one.

I thought TN panels were actually preferred for gaming because of their faster response time (usually under 5ms). I could be wrong though.

just read that 1920x1080 doesn't go nicely with a 22" monitor, should i get a 1680 x 1050 22" monitor instead?

i was hoping atleast 25% :D
should i just buy a 4870, and later get this card later for crossfire? and currently, i just want to play cod4, l4d and maybe try crysis

IF your planning on going to win 7 when it launchs its been anounced that 4890 will be supported right off the install disc driverwise.
A 4890 for $70 more then what your looking at I think is worth it + if ya do plan to crossfire it will become alot more easier AND it will be more powerfull with 2 4890's goin.

Not true! I have a Dell S2209W @ 1920x1080 and a friend has the E2200HD. Both are very usable displays.

my motherboard just came in i noticed they didnt come with screws
cm690 only came with case screws(to place the motherboard on)
the manual of my case didnt show any screws, so they werent supposed to come with that.

Motherboards never come with screws. The screws on the CM690 are @ the drive cages...
