Why was Dell UltraSharp 2209WA a good deal
http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?p=8591647

and Dell E2209W wasn't ?

Is it because the first one was Ultrasharp?

Thanks

Ya, the first was an Ultrasharp.

The only major difference between the two is the stand which pivots, tilts, etc. and USB ports. Other than those things, its practically the same monitor stats wise.

Better panel, tho the E2209W isn't a terrible deal.

Wrong, 2209WA is a eIPS panel, this one is TN. Big difference.

Yeah wow.... Can't believe anyone would say they're practically the same. IPS > TN big time.

I bought the E2009W. I'd say it's a pretty nice price. The 2209WA sold out way too fast the next day.

edit: Oh, this is for today's E2209W. $170 is not that great of a deal. It's not terrible by any stretch though.

whats eips?
what's TN?
what's the difference (and no EIPS > TN is not an informative answer)?

Checkout this link:
http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/panel_technologies.htm

Most notable, TN panels when you view at other verticle angles other than directly ahead, you tend to get a darkening image.

Whereas EIPS is designed viewable at any angle.

The spec breakdown is also on that link.
