Hello All,
I purchased a Sony Vaio VGNNS240DS last night. I think the laptop is amazing and fast (although I haven't had the chance to fully explore), however my brothers say I could have purchased a less expensive laptop with the same specs and features.
I admit I did spend more than I intended on spending, but it's worth it to me.
Any opinions on the Sony Vaio VGNNS240DS? Or any suggestions on a laptop with the same or better specs and features?
Any help is appreciated.

Sony typically is one of the more expensive brands overall. I'm sure you could have found something cheaper, however, it would have different styling, a different screen, different case, etc., which may or may not be any better/worse.
Personally, I bought a Dell Latitude D830 a few years ago, and around the same time, my sister bought an Inspiron. Each laptop cost us roughly the same amount of money, but she got hers through Dell, and I bought mine off of a reseller on eBay.
Her Inspiron is about ready to be thrown on the garbage heap, has no warranty, the case is scratched, the keyboard doesn't work that well. My Latitude still has a year and a half of warranty left, the metal case doesn't really scratch, I've dropped mine on the ground a few times, *and* it has gigabit ethernet and a few other featues that the other one didn't.
Basically the moral of the story -- there's so many different models of laptops out there, and so many different ways to buy those laptops, that its really hard to say one way or another whether you got a bad deal. I'm sure you could have gotten a better deal. You could also have bought a poorer laptop, or a better one, and maybe saved money that way. Sony stuff is usually you either love it, or you hate it. I haven't bought Sony since a disasterous experience with warranty service on a CRT screen a few years back, but I'm sure you'll fare better.
