I have some movies/tv shows that are MP4 but when I view them on my comp it is very choppy and delayed.
Would this be a RAM issue? right now I have 1GB.
I am using BS player to watch the videos.
Any input would be appreciated!

Are they H.264 videos? What resolution?
What's your CPU?

Probably your CPU is too slow. If you have a recent video card and the videos are encoded properly, you could try DXVA decode with MPC-HC (http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/).

my comp is an AMD 64 3000+
1.81GHz, 960 mb RAM
I've tried the media player classic and its the same results.
Any more suggestions?

VLC? Maybe your CPU is just too slow. Try closing as many other programs as possible to free up CPU cycles.
Also, there is an off-chance your computer might have worms / viruses / etc running in the background, which could chew up a lot of cycles.

If the .mp4 files you're trying to play are similar to 720p quicktime movie trailers your cpu won't be able to handle it. Maybe if you have a DXVA/Cuda capable video card, it could offload the video decoding like flyz mentioned.

MP4's can be played on Windows Media player, try using that. If itS, choppy with WMP it's you video card.
