I need help from someone on how to fight a parking ticket?
Here is the story of how i got this disable parking ticket. the fine is 450 dollars , plz help me with your advice.
I am a High school student , and my high school is 50 minutes away from my home , (if i take public transit).
So I had a summative due that day and if I had not hand in that summative on time , my teacher was not going to accept it (she is a very strict teacher), and I was late too.
So I borrowed my friends car , because there was no way I could have make it on time. My school doesn't have a parking for visitors, it only have handicapped parking spots. So I parked my car for 10 min on the handicapped parking. When I got out of the school, I noticed that there is a yellow paper on the car's windshield. When I read it, it was a 450 dollars parking ticket.
Yes, I am screwed
Any tips on how should i fight this ticket?. I mean I am not financially capable of paying this ticket.
And there is no way I could come off for 450 dollars.
Plz give me an advice for fighting this 450 dollars parking ticket. and
secondly, can I fight this ticket on my on?, cuz i dont want to disturb my friend (but i have told him about this ticket)

OK, flame number one.
My Mother is handicapped, she is in a wheelchair and has hand controls for her vehicle. When a non handicapped person parks in the clearly designated handicap spot she has to find a narrow spot for which to park and has considerable difficulty getting in and out of her car.
You deserve the ticket, no matter how long you were parked there. I truly hope that there is no way out for you. Sorry. :(

Your high school doesn't have non-disabled parking spaces? Why not take the chance of parking in the student lot without a pass rather than committing a CRIME by parking in a handicapped spot without a permit? The worst you could have got from the school was a notice saying you need a permit.

Isn't there another $450 handicapped space ticket thread already? Is this one gonna get 130+ responses too?

Maybe it's the OP of the other $450 ticket thread who was banned? No, it's not that guy and I don't think it's a troll either. One of the reasons why RFD gets a bunch of new users posting these kinds of threads is because people go to Google to search for fight parking ticket (http://www.google.ca/search?q=fight+parking+ticket) and see the links to RFD in the search results and then end up in the forums.

lol Rehan I was going to say the OP got another $450 ticket AFTER the loblaw's incident? haha
Anyways jokes aside, what has our society come to? You are still in high school, yet you think you have the right to park in a disabled parking just because you needed to hand in your assignment on time? Did you thought about how stupid this excuse would sound to a judge? Why were you late in the first place? Why didn't you started to work on it earlier? Why didn't you arrive earlier to school? You knew your house was far away, yet for whatever reason you were late and had to borrow a friend's car. You were just selfish and inconsiderate of others and hope that you didn't get caught. Yet when people do get caught, they come on RFD bending over for advice on how to fight the $450 ticket. If you are not financially able to pay the ticket, then why do it in the first place?
I am an university student, one time I was late for an interview with a professor, yet I couldn't find a spot for my school's parking permit colour, so I parked in another spot with a different colour. I never thought about parking in a disabled place cause I know that's just wrong and selfish. I found a ticket when I came back, but I just paid it because I know what I did was wrong, and I am taking responsibility for my actions. Since then I always arrived early to school for whatever reason.
YOU GOT WHAT YOU DESERVED. I AM GLAD YOU WERE CAUGHT! PAY UP AND LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES!

I have personally seen some jerk park in a disabled parking, and walked finely and casually to the mall, while another lady who was handicapped had to park all the way in the back because that jerk was too selfish. I notified the mall security and management and they said they'll make sure he gets the ticket.
To the OP: what if that handicapped lady was your mother or relative and someone close to you? How would you feel? Would you still have parked in a handicapped parking knowingly?

What can i say ... you are on your own. Seems like you have not had your license for too long as you should know 2 places you should never ever park:
1. Handicapped space , as you found out that will burn a $450 hole in your budget
2. In close proximity to Fire Hydrant, that will most likely cost you more if there is a fire near by and FD has to have access to that hydrant.
I am sure you will not do that again, and you know what ... should have parked on the street, would cost you $30 .

What high school is this? I don't think there is a highschool in Canada that does not offer student/visitor parking. How do parents park on parents night or other events?
No way you can fight your ticket, unless you are mentally disabled.

Contesting a ticket means you don't think you're guilty of the infraction.
In your post, you have already confirmed to us that you were in fact parked in a handicap space without a handicap permit.
Unless you parked there to go save a life, the juge won't be your friend.
At least you didn't lose any demerit points.
Be a man and pay for your wrong.

if i was the OP, i would just parked against like the curb near the entrance of the schools... if ur parked there, which is closer to the doors than a handicapped spot anyway, they will just charge u like $30-40 dollars... never would i park in a handicapped spot...
once like 6 years ago, when i was meeting someone to buy something from here when i first joined, my brother pulled into the handicapped spot to let me off to go into the tim's to meet up with the guy.. he stayed in the spot with the car turned on, when i came back 2 min later, there was a cop like yelling at him about how he can give him a ticket and such.... he didnt get one..maybe cuz he was there and the car was on so he could move for any handicapped person...but still, i learned from that to never do it (didnt have my license then)...
fighting this will not do anything for u... ull be paying that $450... shoulda thought about it more...
btw..do u go to a private school or something? cuz i dont know many ppl that go to a school that is 50min by public transit away... maybe its a toronto thing?
