i personally dont watch much MMA... ill watch the GSP fights and probably brock lesnar fights as well... but im a wwe fan and i find those games to be pretty fun for a little while.... i remember when they released a UFC game in like 2000 ish.. man that was bad... i think it was by acclaim lol..

ufc is still pretty big tho, but ya.. early 2008 woulda been a good release time instead of mid 2009

But it doesn't have the same "bling factor" as a few years ago, where everyone was talking about it, the sport was in a major growth phase, and people were actively looking for a game version.

I tried the usual "so did anyone catch The Ultimate Fighter" comment at work recently, and NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE, watched the latest edition. That's a first.

Now that MMA has gone mainstream and gotten a lot more boring, kids are moving away from it, and the game won't be as big a hit as it would have in 2007-2008.

The demo was kinda fun actually
It really had a UFC feel to it (from the announcers, to Bruce Buffer, the refs, etc... but I wish the ref was actually in the ring during the fight...or was he? I didn't notice him)

I can see how this could be a button masher, but with practice you can really get a good fight going.

It would be funny if they included Silva's behind the leg kick in the game though :lol: That could be his ultimate move, haha

I am still on the edge about getting it though, it has the potential to be great. But since it is called UFC Undisputed 2009, does that mean there will be a new version every year? (hmmm, I really wonder, b/c how much can they change year by year, right?)

Today, I had a full 4 hours with the game (only in exhibition because I have relatives over and couldn't play single player).

Don't ask how I got it but someone in a retail store was able to sneak it out before its release date (it was in their hands and being played at least two days ago).

I did go through the tutorial before I actually played.

My simple opinion: This game is GREAT. I think its more fun than any other game like it (ie/ older UFC games, wrestling games). If you have the gaming guarantee, at least try it for the week. I'm a pretty big UFC fan and so is the relative that had the game. It was simple fun. I would say that if your a big fan of the UFC this is a great game to past the tide with friends before watching the big shows on PPV or something like that. Its simply more fun than playing say SF4 or another fighting game.

There is a lot of technical stuff with the game because it has that 'anything can happen' factor that the real fights do. One mistake can truly cost you the match and that is a lot fun. Just sitting there and taking on each opponent differently because each fighter has different strengths and weaknesses (I think they are accurately depicted in this game).

A con in the game is the lack of fighters from the past (maybe they are unlocked through Career mode). It would have been nice because Randy Couture wasn't there, Royce Gracie, etc....(may need to unlock???).

I would say if your a huge UFC fan that could easily play against other people in the same room, its a BUY. Too much fun to be ignored.

Other than that, the demo is a good representation of the fight mechanics needed to play against a 'real person' not the CPU. The lack of fighters in the demo doesn't represent the strategy needed to beat opponents (once again playing against a living person).

As say compared to... Street Fighter? Yeah it's going to seem pretty slow. It's a pretty accurate representation of the sport - at least judging by the demo.

It would be a must buy title, except they're already talking about all the cool stuff that's going to be in next year's version. Yeah. It's that kind of game. *sigh* I'll pass. I hate chasing down yearly updates. At least with Fight Night, I know it's going to last until the next significant update.

To my mind, I figure a sports iteration should be at least 2 years in the making. These days, it's not even worth the $70 you spend on it, and even roster updates, which used to be a free patch sort of thing, is something you pay for.

Ugh.

When you start talking about how much better the next game is going to be, it makes buying this one a little pointless.

UFC is amazing the fighting system is pretty good. I wished the used Fight Nights dual analog style where you use the left stick for your left hand and your right stick as your right hand.

Just wished the included the actual fight videos when you unlock them via classic fights

you didn't have to preorder it from EB to get the 2 DLC fighters, if you bought the game from EB then you will get it. I don't think it won't last long since i went to pick my preorder this past Tuesday they already gutted at least 5 copies and put the cases on the shelf and the remaining were sealed behind the glass case.

THQ confirmed that the DLC fighters will be available for free after 90 days of release.
