This game definitely needs more attention. It's been out on Xbox Live Arcade for a while now but just came out on the PC a few days ago.

You can buy it off Steam for $14.99 USD. Demo can be found here: http://www.bigdownload.com/games/braid/pc/braid-demo/

The goal of the game is to collect all the puzzle pieces in each level then make it to the door on the other side. Oh, and did I mention you have to manipulate time itself in order to accomplish this? It also has a deeper storyline that's woven into each puzzle and world you complete. Combine that with the fantastic hand-painted artwork and celtic-inspired background music and you've got an experience like no other. Everything in the game is at 720p resolution so it'll also look absolutely stunning.

Just finished playing it and, while it is short, it's been one of the most fun experiences I've had in gaming since Portal came out (which was also kind of short). Each level is so carefully designed that you definitely need to think, a lot, to solve some of them. Don't play it as a platformer but rather as a puzzle game and you'll see the ingenuity that this game requires. PLAY FOR YOURSELF AND SEE!

I loved the game for the 2 weeks I played. It has no replay value, but definitely worth the $15.

Sounds like similar to Mario gameplay to me?

Well, the OP said it was more of a puzzle game than a platformer. I've heard a ton of good things about this one. It sounds awesome.

The requirements under "controller support" only says that it supports the Xbox 360 controller for Windows. Does anyone know if other USB gamepads work?

You can use xpadder http://www.xpadder.com/

It maps your controller to keyboard keys so you can use it in games that don't support gamepads.

looks like a donkey kong rip off? Or is that just one of the levels

Haha you caught the reference. No, it's nothing like Donkey Kong.

I should note that time manipulation is at the core of this game. It's very clever.

Braid is meh. I think it's time they bring Castle Crashers to PC.

No, no they're not.

2D games were around long before Flash. :P

(also thanks for the xpadder link, sxz)

I think people like you are the reason we're getting beautiful 2D games like this. You see 2D and instantly think Flash. This game could not be done in Flash.

The game is really clever and an awesome experience. Definitely worth $15. If I didn't already have it on the 360 I'd get it on PC. It was just announced that they will be releasing a level editor for the PC version! Definitely gonna bump up the replay value of the title.

Braid has some of the most clever puzzles I've witnessed in a video game. In the later levels, once I finally figured out the puzzle I was all WOW, how the hell did someone come up with this?

Definitely worth $15
