Still looking for freaking video card and I'm really upset cause my budget has gone down since I had to upgrade ram.
So right now I can only spend 150-180ish for video card.
I know NCIX had sale on 260gtx for $200. Do you think $200 is too much for used videocard? 260gtx 55mm
Please don't recommend ATI i dont like their cards.
When will we see 260 drop like substantially? 275 come out?
This is so depressing cause i'm really at a handicap with the card im using.

ati 4890 on right now for $269 & can be had for cheaper & its a WAY better videocard then a nvidia 260 gtx, idk WHY you would choose a nvidia card over a ati one unless you are 1 of those peaple that bases there buying on a bad experience with a hardware failure if so I think it would be wise as a consumer to have a more open mind towards BOTH companies.
And a used 260 for $200 IS a rip off for shure weither its a evga or xfx or not.

I was looking for the deal that NCIX had a few weeks ago. I still think $200 for a used GTX 260 is a steal. Maybe you can negotiate for a $20-30 lower if you really think your budget is too tight. I hope NCIX will have the 260 GTX on sale again, I missed because Paypal was still processing my funds at the time...:razz::razz:

Don't get cute with me Ben. Ncix only had the sale on 1 time I think and I missed out it was many weeks ago if I recall.
There are many people trying to pawn off their 260gtx cause obviously they are gonna upgrade. Plus, factor in tax too it will be more than $200. I chosed $200 its a good round number close to what this card is selling for.
I just have had very good experience with Nvidia. I wish to support them more so than ATI and its my money so I guess I can choose which manufacturer I prefer. Not a diss to ATI but if you make a poll 75% of higher will choose Nvidia. I was even thinking about 4870 but not no more. Plus, I am buying 24" Samsung so I need 1920x1280 res for when I play TF2

*LMAOL* ...... your view is DEFINATLY off on what you think peaple will buy a nvidia card over a ati one  .... Also what makes you think a ATI card is NOT going to support 1920x1200 ??
4870 1 gig or even a 512 version like I have can play ANY games well @ 1920x1200 with all the bells & whistles on.
IF your money is tight ... definatly look on the forums for a used 260 or a used radeon 4870 card as they should be sub $200 cards now, hell my cards even probly barley worth $220 shipped if that with the newer ati & nvidia cards that have came out recently.

Call me Benny Lava ;) If your budget is REALLY TIGHT, don't get a high end card unless you find an amazing deal like $200 for a used gtx260

Definitely ATI cards are not bad but Nvidia overall is the total package. Like comparing BMW and Mercedez. Mercedez = Nvidia Bmw = ATI. Both are good but Mercedez is one step higher. Well we are in a recession.. right? I am not getting as many hours at work and so I have to watch my money more wisely.

What's the evidence suggesting that ATI is a step down from NVidia? I have an 8800GT in my computer right now but wouldn't hesitate to go to ATI if i ever wanted to upgrade.

How much is a good price for a used 260gtx? This is 216 not the 192 version. When did the price dropped? I think you can only find price drop on special sales..

it is a good price.... it rivals the 4870. maybe 190 would be better though

Its not a bad price then if it is a 216.
Although used, used Videocard maintain their value pretty well.
Although a 4890 is 270 there still the rebate, tax and shipping and it quickly over 300 dollars pre rebate.
For a 100 dollars more a 4890, is not worth it.
basically buying it for 200 is saving you 20 dollars worth of rebate trouble, tax and shipping.
It not a steal, but it is a fair price.
