What point are you trying to make? The RAV4 is overpriced/undepriced or the Venza is overpriced/underpriced?

They are very different vehicles so I'm not sure why you'd be cross-shopping the two of them. One is basically a larger wagon with AWD and the other is a smaller CUV with AWD.

I think Venza is well priced.(I think both are good vehicles though)
Although they are different vehicles, I would consider that both are 'cross- browse-able' because they are in same price range and both have utilities that 'I need'. It is hard to decide which is better for me because both have prenty of 'better-ness'. Even in appearance, Venza's interior is nice and Rav4's exterior is nice. Probably, both are pretty much same all-in-one type. I just wanted to listen other's opinion about these cars with simmilar prices.

It looks more like that you tried to sell rather than buy!

One obvious difference is the Venza is quite a bit larger - based more on the Camry and Highlander while the Rav4 is smaller - based off of the Corolla.

Rav4 is now built in Canada. Venza is built in the US, I think.

Both have AWD options and come in 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder versions.

Neither are good for offroading.

If you are interested in both and both would fit your needs, test drive both and decide which you prefer.

I find the Highlander-Venza-RAV4 comparison to be interesting. I personally think the Venza would have fit better in a line-up that had the RAV4 at the size of the previous gen. Sure, they 3 are different - but they are going to cannibalize sales from each other.

Despite being a shorter vehicle, the Venza actually sits higher and has more ground clearance than the RAV - apparently, Toyota plans to lower the Venza for 2010
The RAV's turning circle is significantly tighter than either the Venza or Highlander
The Venza and Highlander share a longer wheelbase than the RAV - typically, that offers a smoother ride
The cargo capacity of the RAV and Venza are about the same - with a slight edge perhaps to the RAV. Both are still smaller than the Highlander. Keep in mind that much of the RAV's space is in its height (as opposed to floor) - which is better depends on how you like/need to load the cargo area
Headroom is better on both RAV and Highlander but the RAV has the least sholder room of the 3
If you're looking at I4s, you're not interested in towing capacity differences - and, anyway, neither the Venza nor have much. The Highlander's ratings are respectable
EPA mileage ratings are about the same for all 3 - the Highlander's larger gas tank will give it a greater range than the other 2 with the RAV having the shortest range
The Venza is about as long as the Highlander and about 1/2 ft longer than the RAV - advantage RAV for parking and garaging
The RAV is 2" narrower than either of the other two - again, advantage RAV for parking and garaging

You're thinking of the previous RAV4 - the current model no longer shares its platform with the Corolla.

I think they may be similar for Cargo room but I suspect for things like rear seating space the Venza will be larger than the RAV4.

Given that Venza is new and the RAV4 isn't, is it reasonable to expect to get a better deal on a RAV4?

RAV4 - swing door, opens to the right

Venza - liftgate door that opens to the top

Unless you need AWD, a v6 Venza with premium package (MSRP $31990) will have more features than the 2009 RAV4 Sport 4WD V6 (MSRP $31990); i.e. the Venza v6 Premium package includes power liftgate & backup camera

If you're ok with the swing-type door on the RAV4, the Suzuki Grand Vitara is a better value; starts at 22,998 with the new $3000 credit & 0% financing

One other thing: the RAV4 is assembled in Cambridge for the North American market, while the Venza is assembled in Georgetown, Kentucky

The other thing to keep in mind here is the 4 cylinder Venzas aren't out yet - will probably be quite a bit cheaper for 4 cylinder FWD version.

I'm sure this would come as a surprise to Don Valley North Toyota, who have about 8 of them sitting on their lot as I write this.
